Shuffling in London Clubs?

Watching the lad shuffling outside the train station, who is being interview in the article, makes me think they must be shuffling in empty clubs or annoying alot of people-taking up so much space in busy clubs!

the last few times ive been to brick lane to parties the atmosphere has been alot more tense and abit dodgy rather than how it may have been a couple years before when it was more smiles / international and tbh messy. It used to be the italians and spanish kids rolling around being messy with big smiles on their faces but now its london / essex geezers being more agressive which ive def seen first hand. The shuffling thing is something that seems to have come with the same people

went to 93 feet east end of last year ... place was wall to wall with essex plums doing charlie anywhere & everywhere in full view of anyone & everyone ... got into a small argument with one cretin in the toilet ... a danny dyer / plan b / john terry / ashley cole / adam deacon / rylan clarke hybrid intent on annoying & threatening everyone in his path ... i got fed up after an hour & made a shuffle towards the exit.

Just saw this on fb! F'n brilliant!

"Lee Frost" "live by the shuffle, die by the shuffle" haha. Fantastic stuff!

"Lee Frost he's doing his fing, DJ tummy bug - he's pretty sick ... Johnny 2-decks ..."

"until right at the end I was just there .. like .. skanking out in a soaking wet pair of .. underpants - but like just having the most amazing time ..."

It's comedy genious.

Well I was at Foot Shuffler central (aka Vibe Bar) last night. Yes I did witness a shuffle or three and highly entertaining it was to watch. I even had a little go myself. Off to buy a snapback as we speak and a nike backpack which seems to be the bag of choice. And some white trainers.

I'm not a shuffler per se....but I have to admit that I like space to dance. And I like to go for it! Some people do think Im nuts (I probably am, in a good way lol!), other people think the energy is awesome; but if the music is pumping, i cant help it. I absolutely love to dance. I just want to shake my ass & wiggle my hips. And I like to jump if its an amazing track. I tend not to dance with a drink (I'll end up spilling it on someone or myself, or someone else will walk past & spill it!) & I am considerate of others, usually trying to find a space with a wall behind me or something so I don't elbow people. I personally love people who dance like they're having a blast. Surely dancing, whichever way you do it, is a form of expression? I agree that those with chips on their shoulders should stay home. Going out to club is about sharing the in love of music, whatever your dance style. I apologise to anyone who was accidentally trodden on by my platform wedge ;-) x

another article on the subject of shuffling / dance music snobbery...
http://www.meoko.net/news/raver-snobbery-where-is-the-love

although aimed / talking abiout london, im sure every city has their dance music snobbery issues.

quite hilarious in glasgow at moment as we have Hot Creations doing a night in glasgow in May, its being promoted by Colours and all the cool kids are moaning that Colours are involved, and that the 'wrong type / wrong crowd will be there, will be full of neds & lots of trouble...
where as if all the cool kids / scenesters getntheir wish it will just be full of ketamine and people who think they are too cool for school!:-)lol

it does make me laugh....i think its just my age catching up with me when i read about this stuff.

... (for those that dont know, Colours are basically the main promoter for house/commercial house/ oldskool /trance in glasgow & west of scotland (also under their streetrave name, which was theri original name back in the late 80's and are closely involved with the hardcore/hardstyle & old scottish rave promotions under the promotional name of Back to the Future (BTTF)

Re shuffling ... I actually think it looks quite good & is nout different to what people were doing in the early days. I suspect the beef is more to do with kids from council estates (prev more assoc with garage/grime/dub step) turning up at house raves & putting the posh kids' noses out of joint. The sound coming out of Bristol (Bashmore, Eats Everything, Waif & Strays etc) & tracks like Benediction were bound to attract attention from the 'urban' scene.

I can't be arsed to watch through all the videos on this thread and perhaps the ones I have watched are mis-representative of shufflers.

FFS: The whole scene was never about those taking part being famous for their dancing, this or that ****. I know many good people who used to have an innate ability to dance and get a party started from ground zero. If the party started, they buzzed to high heaven and wallowed in their simple glory, if the party didn't kick off it meant the fuzz had confiscated the major organs.

Maybe it's time for me to pull my own teeth out and join the derby and jone club as i cannot understand Jordans bollux appriasal of the situation as anything more than a sales promo.

roffle this is the result of a period of abstinence followed by a few glasses of white, thankfully I don't take the internet and social media too seriously!

My point loosely was; the clips I viewed were of folks giving it the big 'look how good I am' nonesense, as far removed from the original ethos of clubbing as you could ever get. I'm probably too old for this type of thing these days, live and let live :) :)

I had a good chat with my hairdresser on Saturday about this - he is a regular at Fuse and a lot of the other clubs that the "shufflers" have supposedly invaded. He said the issue isn't really the dancing at all. Its the aggressive attitude that these people have.
A lot of them are just looking for a fight and they are not the regular nights "clientele" unitl recently. Apparently they have latched onto the scene and turn up not really for the music but to cause aggro.
He has seen girls punched, glasses go flying, and they seem to have a penchant for shouting "f****K Orrrrffffffff" very loudly at people!
Maybe saying "no shuffling" is a way of identifying these people as unwelcome and is probably an easy way of excluding them rather than saying "we dont want your type in here!" which is more likely the truth.
Personally I like the dancing and its no different to early hardcore/rave etc but the big difference is the attitude which has come with it......
