Labour won by default - because the majority couldn't forgive Conservative for the last 3-4 years.

In my opinion today is a very disappointing, even though it was expected.

Things need to change and Labour is not the answer

Things might not change drastically for you or I, and that's because we live fairly privileged lives. But for some of my friends families who are lower down the economic rung and have had less opportunities growing up, their lives will improve markedly

We all have had less opportunities growing up - my parents lost their house with three children.

It isn't about me or you it's about the country as a whole.

Taking from the middle class and the rich to give to the poor is a short term answer.

Labour will not improve the NHS, the housing crisis, create economic growth or stop illegal immigration and lower legal immigration.

In five years time we will see Labour getting the boot for making an absolute mess

And I will be living in another country by then haha

There will be shitloads of analysis and everyone will draw different conclusions as to what kind of mandate this is. it's hard when the results are so fragmented and with an archaic system that never reflects votes in actual seat share.

I think the data does prove though that people across the board were sick of the Conservatives for all sorts of reasons and that the circus couldn't go on. The centre right needs to have a long think about who and what is actually for.

I have doubts as to what Lab can realistically do, given they have no money to play with, whilst the growing evidence of intimidation at local level proves that the Gaza issue is completely toxic and it's anyone's guess how that will play out.

In Wales we have a labour led devolved government, so they run our NHS and education, and implement blanket 20mph speed limits which have not been popular.

Our NHS is in just a bad a mess as England’s, if not worse. Our children are quite regularly being scored in the lower ratings of the PISA assessments. Wales suffered due to the loss of EU funding following Brexit and any money that seems to come from Westminster just falls into a black hole - but it’s ok we’ve got £33 million to change all the roads signs because of new speed limits!!

I hope Labour will do a better job in England than they have done here…. maybe now both parties in charge are Labour we’ll get more money. I just hope we don’t go back to the days of the Brown administration when every time there was a budget there was continuous increases in tax on things like fuel. People are pushed enough already, they just can’t afford it.

33% vote share absolutely proves your point. Incredible that Labour can win and win huge with that amount of votes.

It certainly suggests the country is unsure as to who they need and who they trust and this election win is a damn shame because it isn't what the country as a whole want.

im no expert by any means, but wont labour just borrow money like they always have to fund their dream?

I’m gonna stay out of the debate on the state of UK politics today. But what I will say is this! This scene of ours was born in part as a backlash to Thatchers oppressive authoritarian regime! The acid house/ rave scene of late eighties/ early nineties was in large part a big middle finger to the authorities ( Tory government) of the time! I was at the Criminal justice bill protest in 1994 where my friends were beaten up by the police. The outsiders, the squatters, the road protesters, the free party ravers came together to fight for this scene we have today. Literally shedding blood! Some of my friends are disgusted that today there are people within this thing we built supporting and voting Conservative. I’m glad they have been rejected and hope they stay gone!

Labour will increase tax on earned income (in a few years and not on low income earners), fuel duty, council tax. Then Tax the hell out of the rich.

As for borrowing money - that is typical. However it is how much they borrow which is what matters.

Thanks the Lord im poor!

14 years of absolute dross, something had to change....nobody can argue with that. I'm quietly optimistic. People always moan about potentially paying more tax...isn't that short termism in itself? If the money is put to good use and it makes a real difference to people's lives, I think that is worth it, no? We've had taxes getting cut time and time again and the country in the absolute gutter under the last lot.

Helps though when you've got people talking absolute bollocks without the facts?

The fact is the population has grown dramatically in the last 15 years.

Do you honestly think Labour are going to sort the NHS waiting times when you have all these housing estates springing up everywhere and net migration exploding.

It is common sense.

What will happen is Labour will tax the hell out of everyone, to try lower the NHS waiting list times. So let me ask you - how much are you willing to pay?
