I had to get this off my chest - my holiday sucked

I agree with you on some points, but I always try to ignore the bad and focus on the good.

I'm sure it used to be better, yadda yadda, but that's the same with everything and there are enough things to keep me going back each year. Unlike most resorts, I never get bored with it and each time discover something new and wonderful.

I don't see the appeal with KM5 (utter rip off) or the Base Bar either. A lot of these places have been built on hype and seem to have little else to them. What you said about the club parades also made me smile as when we went to El Passadis (great food) along Calle de Virgin, most did seem a bit half-arsed, even though there were some great costumes on display - Made in Italy's Gladiatori and Manumission (although the girl on the blokes shoulders who was leading the procession looked pretty cool).

Sorry Sirens,

i guess we are not of the same generation, as afterall, how many adult's approaching 50+ something like myself actually listen to the type of music that is all to frequently played in the club's of Ibiza ? As for studying music, let's just say i'm a hopeless  when it come's too playing the guitar, but an expert when on my grandson's keyboard:lol: as i only have too press one key and the keyboard does the rest!! Now where's the musical talent in that ??

I wonder what the like's of the late Jimmy Hendrix & co 8) would make of today's music scene??

no hard feeling's,eh!!:)

52 and just had a great night with Luciano&LocoDice at Supermarket/ZH.
I was and still a big fan of Steely Dan.
So age is not an issue.

ONLY A FOOL WOULD SAY THAT by Steely Dan from album Can't by a thrill

A world become one
Of salads and sun
Only a fool would say that
A boy with a plan
A natural man
Wearing a white stetson hat
Unhand that gun begone
There's no one to fire upon
If he's holiding it up high
He's telling a lie

I too listened to Steely Dan & have still a few abum's in the collection,

Can't buy a thrill 1972
Katy lied 1975
The royal scam 1976
The nightfly 1982

As you can see we have shared much the same taste in music but as for the music today, that's where i'm sure we differ. I have had many an argument over the year's concerning what is good & what i think is bad, unfortunatly i tell everyone that today's music is too say the least mediocre, but then that's only my opinion as my wife & many of our friend's in there late forties & early fifties enjoy what is available where as i don't. I will be in Ibiza next september & will probably try out a club, just for the experience but at the same time i do not see why one should have too pay the entrance fee + drink's which can cost more than a good restaurant or more expensive than a airfare ticket from the UK.

I think what has happened to Per Niente is that you are too OLD!!! to enjoy the island and have gone too many times...any time you go on 10 trips to one destination it always loses its special appeal...there is nothing like visiting a place and exploring it for the first time...you can find a quiet place with nice beaches all over the world with cheap restaurants...but I think your mindset is way too old for Ibiza...either that or you didnt get laid last time you went! LOL

Sorry I missed this earlier, but I just wanted to make a few points.

Since my first season in '99 I've seen a lot of people go from loving Ibiza to being really disappointed. Clearly the massive highs that people experience are often followed by a deep low. That process can take years or a week. It can also be reversed.

It's a common situation that's analagous to that experienced by someone infatuated with a person or any deeply rewarding activity.

In Ibiza the issue is intensified by mass tourism - what was once an exclusive tourist destination is now inclusive. The whole world knows and goes and if you liked it the way it was before then understandably the way it is now is going to annoy the hell out of you.

However to say the music is getting "worse each year" and the clubs are full of "twats" is quite ridiculously closed-minded. Is it not possible to accept that other people really enjoy music and styles of entertainment that you don't?

Do you think they are pretending? Am I pretending? I think it's more likely that you're not old, you're burnt out.

Re: demographics, I'm prepared to accept there are other places more cosmopolitan but I've never been to one.

Oh dear,

after reading Dr Mick's post it look's like i won't be enjoying my time out in Ibiza next month. I'm probably already suffering from burnout so i'll be going in to bed early (i usually stay up until about 2/3 am), as the younger crowd will think i'm too old too stay up late.

You're in luck blindman, there's loads of parties that peak before midnight. They're my favourite.

:o

Cheer's Dr Mick,

Now that's what i call a good reply, as it look's like i'll be rolling back the year's afterall :D :D :D :D Now if anyone has a quick cure for getting rid of some aging puppy fat which somehow seem's to of been a part of me all my life, (or maybe i really am getting old:cry:)then that would be the icing on the cake. Afterall too see a fit & lean blindmanskunk in Ibiza is every woman's dream:lol:.

Where's the best place's too hang out for these parties, as although i knew Ibiza 20yrs ago & before that, today's Ibiza has changed.

TODOS Y DIA DE FIESTA FELIZ DE LA ACLAMACION DEMASIADO

For a start, try Azuli night at El Divino with Dave Piccioni; he puts on nice songs, not too frightening music.
If you feel ok then step to Loco Dice at DC10 for a taste of "new" music.

Gaucho is one of the best produced albums

you'll never know what you missed - crystal clear clean waters, beautiful countryside, tranquil places and restaurants where the staff are genuinely happy to see you, the price is reasonable and the food and service excellent. that's the ibiza i live in[/quote]

ditto - I've been going for 18 years, sometimes three times a year, eat out several nights per visit and only had one bad meal in all that time.
Also in all that time, I have never visited a club and never intend to - each to their own!

Clubbers

So Stephen reckons that just 2% of Clubbers are non-white?

Stephen....depends on where the club is!

For example, take Devon in the UK....

Have lived there for nine years since moving from the London area, where considerably more than 2% of clubbers were non white!

In Devon you have Two major cities....In Plymouth 2% of clubbers being non white would be just about right, but in the other city Exeter then the figure can rise to 20% easily on a friday night as there are far more non whites living in Exeter due to the University being more multi cultural.

And since when did race have anything to do with having a good time in a club?

And you think you belong to a generation that is the first to frown upon older people attending clubs?...EVERY generation since the 60's has seen older clubbers as being old fogies....it's not just a post 2000 Ibiza attitude, anyone would think your generation invented clubbing!

anyone would think your generation invented clubbing!

my generation did invent clubbing!

prior to the 60's there were no dance discos in britain at all. that period saw a boom in black american soul dance music, clubs where you could dance all day or all night, weekenders, drugs that kept you awake, cult dj's - only the technology has changed today.

Can anyone please explain why you are prepared to pay 40 quid to watch a bloke playing records - who needs him, a computer can do that bit and instead of him living in luxury, you can all get in for a fiver.

100% with you on that one Tony, hence that's why i'll be strutting my stuff (watch out John Travolta as the blindmanskunk alias dave will be in town:lol: ) at the Cala Nova Hotel disco, the drinks i assume will also be alot cheaper than in a £40 club.

Cheer's as the next round's on me

Bet your parents hated that.

their biggest concern was the lambretta sx125 i had my heart set on. everybody had one, it made us all different from the others.
