Interesting case. Facebook are generally responsive in taking down fake profiles (a lot easier to deal with than Twitter) although sometimes they can drag their feet a bit.I would wager good money Facebook would be keen to settle this out of court.
This one is even more fun. Woman tried to trap her ex-husband with a fake Facebook profile and promptly got served! For the lady in the story Facebook led her to trouble

Curious that vkontakte ("in touch"... a Russian clone of Facebook) is still number one around here. Also interesting that Facebook isn't even 2nd (Odnoklassniki, "classmates") or 3rd (blogging site Livejournal - US based but as of last year Russian-owned).
Linked In becomes a pain at our place for head hunters calling
I agree it is now full of people looking for work or wanting to hire someone.
We use it a lot as we are recruitment......but as a secretary answering the phone and putting calls through SO many are people trying to recruit our staff! After seeing them on there.
That is what I mean people use it to poach staff
Irritating isnt it!
Aint gona hold alot for me seeing its tooo easy for someone to have fake profiles, more importantly, that someone can make another 2 fake profiles of me
