yesterday we read that san antonio is considering a new restriction on the opening hours that would affect bars, cafes-concierto and clubs, which seemed like a lot of nonsense to me since it said the proposal has come from the owners themselves.

today we read that apparently the problem are the many cafes-concierto (venues with 6am license), especially in the west end where the measure "would be good for cleaning and rest of the neighbours".

maybe the idea comes from the club owners in the municipality, who would like the clients of these places to leave the west end earlier and go to their clubs?! otherwise i don't get it . . . . .

^^ Maybe the owners are still recovering from sleep deprivation and have finally decided the revenue earned in the final two hours after most punters are either unconscious or incapable is not enough of a compensation for looking after them all the way to 6am

It's beyond petty. It's downright foolish.

What Eden & Es Paradis fail to realise it that having the West End on their doorstep is a great tool! Not a problem. They need to take a serious look at their own operation instead of worrying about what the small fish are doing a few hundred meters away.

If they sorted out their own house they would soon see they can use the West End to their advantage.

Complaint
The association which comprises proprietors of most of the businesses in the West End informed the Town Hall last week that they were against the idea of modifying opening hours, especially in light of the fact that little is done to control other activities in the town which seriously affect their businesses. They cited the "party boats" which cause chaos on the promenade when their passengers are embarking or disembarking; and the 24 hour supermarkets which sell alcohol and food throughout the night, as a large proportion of the rubbish which accumulates each night, both in the West End and ses Variades, emanates from these establishments. "Every evening the crowds waiting for the sunset turn the sea front into a massive fiesta, much to the distress of the local businesses on the Sunset Strip". They continued that their trade has diminished over the years due to excessive competition and price wars, but emphasized that the security measures in the town are insufficient. There are six Local Police officers on each shift to patrol an area where more than 5,000 people congregate each evening, most of them in party mood.

 denounced for letting in kids aged 12-13
"the police located a bar located in c. del mar where youth parties were organized, to which only people between 16 and 18 can assist (...). at the time there was seven kids, all of them aged 12-13 (...). the police spoke with the owner who was told that it's forbidden to have exposed to the public alcohol and tobacco"

^^ Well, I like it because it focuses heavily on the bits of San Antonio I like best ... and they are in or on the water. But none of that is "New" and been enjoying same for years. Couple of features on OBC which is to be expected which I don't think that really changes much. San Antonio and surrounding areas have always had some nice things to see and do - it is simply that many visitors don't plan their days to take advantage of them.

It's a shame some of the better local restaurants aren't featured. The video really just offers some snapshots of the best bits there and nearby (on the water) and the most touristy bits (off the water - Sunset Strip, OBC and some club shots) - but the average tourist arriving there likely won't see anything different to what already exists. If they couldn't find the good stuff before I'm not sure how they will find a "new San Antonio" now !

Bars and cafes concert criticize the closure one hour earlier ?!?
With the new legislation providing municipalities must approve remain empty at 3 respectively 5 am,
The city of Sant Josep debate this ordinance today

Sant Josep City Council is expected to approve today a new city ordinance regulating the hours of establishments, public entertainment and recreation. Representatives of various associations representing employers nightlife of the island have criticized the amended standard, although its content is not yet known in detail, since the Consistory has refused to give evidence to date.

Apparently, the new ordinance, drafted with the intention of regulating the existence and timing of new business models such as beach clubs and hotel terraces, also changes the opening hours of bars and cafes down concert.
Specifically requires such businesses to close an hour earlier:
at 3 bars (now close at 4 am) and cafes concert at 5 (currently open until 6).
The businessmen believe that this measure will make them lose customers and lead even closure of some of these establishments, so yesterday severely criticized this initiative considered born within the Consell of Mayors and supported by the Consell of Ibiza.

Pep Colomar, representing the local West End, Chris Langley, as the voice of employers in the Bay of Sant Antoni / Cala De Bou, and José Ramón Noguera, by the Association of Platja d'en Bossa, expressed concern about this change ...
