10 ways Ibiza will change in 2019

But others such as Life of Rye enjoy it. No need for people to constantly dig him out and shout down whatever he says.[/QUOTE]

Don’t forget there are lot of people on here who think ibiza is their island, and that change into the 21st century or the people it brings are not allowed.....

How dare you go to OB or Cafe Mambo and for the love of god never mention VIP ....( even if you have a serious question )

Makes me laugh.

When is OBC closing?

Closing party was last Friday I think

@Kent Kid it's mainly the delusion that life and the island's all about what's seen on social media channels of a few self-obsessed youngsters. A new friend made this year who went over with no preconceptions for the first time said to me of OBC whilst sat watching the sunset at Benirras on a weekday "been there, done that, had the wank". Pretty much summed it up. He'll be back to Ibiza but likely not there. Some people do go back of course but OBC like Mambo rely on a constant stream of passing guide-book guests for their revenue stream. Neither has much competition in terms of prominence in San An. OBC is probably a step up from the velvet roped booths at the local dive in Chelmsford or Newcastle and there's enough people looking for somewhere to strut their stuff in the sun to keep it happily ticking over for years to come, little doubt about it !

Pedantic I know, it's Ocean Beach Ibiza. No C about it.
(sorry for wasting space)

Another Mambos-gate lol. Trouble with OBI is all I can think of is >>>

Feel like a lot needs to change, but won't happen all in the one year. At the end of the day, this is a party island and tourists are what make a place like this survive. Thought the lockout laws for the west end were quite stupid and see the 'looky looky men' and prostitutes robbing tourists more of an issue on the streets than drunk tourists. More big day parties should also be introduced. Nothing quite like a day party filled with good tunes and good vibes. Would like DC10 to be opened a little earlier for this reason as once the garden closes it becomes quite packed in the terrace and main room. Understand locals do have an issue with these sort of things but as I stated earlier, this is a party island. It operates for 6 months and goes completely dead for the winter. Having such complaints of tourists ruining Ibiza, will only end up hurting the locals as tourists are starting to get fed up with the issues they face going there.

But it’s not, clubbing is not the main attraction across the board.
When you have had experience of both you wil realise
true but how many people know about the other things that ibiza has to offer.....unless you are a veteran...alot of people first timers or young people see it as a party Island only

My solution is draconian but simple - ban all (non-resident) 16-30s from entering the island during the summer months (unless they have an officially sanctioned permit eg key workers, contractors, nurses, teachers etc). to be enforced by rigorous biometric id checks at air and sea ports. This would be the first step in recalibrating the leisure economy towards a more mature market and enticing a better class of visitor to the resorts. The second longer-term phase would then be opening up the gaps in the resorts to local and mainland artisans, artists, new family businesses, sustainable enterprises, community-minded ventures and encouraging established businesses to diversify their services to cater to new markets. The third part is law-enforcement - hitting the leeches, thieves, sex-pests, mafias and people traffickers hard and making the resorts safe and attractive to visitors from around the world. Would the music side be hit hard? - well maybe some of the big corporate brands would take a hit, but a smaller range of clubbing options catering to an older, more affluent audience might mean more interesting events at smaller venues with greater freedom to take risks with more attention to music and quality and less to production and trashy gimmicks. Win, win, win imo...

*ducks for cover*

People get sold family package holidays to AI and other resorts by high street travel agents and parties are an extra on the side for them. People seeking somewhere with a free flowing supply of narcotics and a load of venues to do them in obviously see the island as a party island. Not all under-30s are habitual drug takers or party animals lol !

I suppose it comes with your (ones) experiences?
There will also be non clubbers guilty of rocking up at an AI hotel in say Portinax and not leaving the resort.

Also, there are approximately 133,000 residents in Ibiza. At its height in 2014 (I think), the maximum summer population was nearly 2,000,000.

Lets say then during the summer months there is an average of 1,000,000 on the island, a very low estimate.

867,000 are therefore visitors.

The main clubs have a total capacity of approximately 30,000 when full.

What are the other 837,000 doing each night/day?
