I really don’t get the issue with wearing masks (i guess it’s a way of life for me now as it’s been mandatory here since July). It shouldn’t impact the good times you could have on your holidays, in fact people should take comfort that they’d be safer than otherwise

Where and when do you have to wear a mask where you are? Ive not worn a mask once since Corona arrived and cant get my head round me spending over a grand of hard earned money to have the pleasure of doing so

I don't have a problem wearing one if i'm going shopping or travelling in the UK. I'm not going to spend money to fly abroad, where the temperature is significantly hotter, and have to wear one all the time or risk a fine.

These new measures are beginning to show that pressure from the tourist industry has rushed things to open when it still isn't safe enough to do so

Dubai. anytime you leave your house. Obviously if your in the pub or restaurant it’s not required While sitting with suitable distancing in place. originally we all had to wear gloves. It’s honestly just a way of life, no bother and some use it as a fashion accessory.

just so much, the government actually hasn't passed this rule yet. but it might as well. and I personally do understand the frustration.

I think 100% in an airport, plane, anywhere inside wear a mask. If I was at an outside restaurant and went inside to the toilets I would put the mask on. But sat on a sunbed around a swimming pool 3 metres from others? It’s just not realistic to do that.

it's a massive pain in the arse but all the caveats and exceptions were probably making policing impossible. what I've noticed happening is people wearing them on their chin until they see a cop...

Who knows, maybe your neighbour will snitch on you (Soviet Russia style) for disobeying the rules? Is anything actually surreal anymore?

If this is coming that strict and including terraces of bars and restaurants, pools etc it will be the final death blow to a tourist season 2020. I easily can do without nightlife this summer, but I won't bother flying into a country with stricter rules than my own at home. I have no problems wearing masks in supermarkets, while walking to your table or the toilet etc but I won't wear a mask while sitting on a terrace (not to mention the beach).
My plan was to come on a last minute offer in September, so we'll see then. Makes me sad this :/

while I partly agree with you on the fact that sadly it will mean lots of cancellations, here are the exceptions where you won't have to wear a mask:

- beaches
- swimming pool areas
- restaurants & bars 'in the moment of eating' - but I truly cannot see the police going to check in the restaurants.

The wording could be misconstrued when translated.
Among other measures, the resolution establishes the mandatory use of masks on public roads and in buildings for public use or customer service. However, swimming pools, beaches and restaurants are excluded at the time of eating or drinking.
This reads as you have to wear a mask everywhere including beaches and Poolside, unless eating or drinking.

I can deal with this, as long as once seated in bar/restaurant the mask can be removed and then put on to leave your table at any point (im guessing thats what your implying with the no police checks in restaurants).

Ahhhhhhh ?. I hope that is purely translation

That’s exactly what we have. Pretty sensible and fair. I don’t understand why someone would cancel their holiday on this basis. Wait and see, most of the world will be following these guidelines in no time at all. It’s just the initial mentality for people to get over then it’s the norm.

your translator has changed the syntax. excepted are pools, beaches, and restaurants at the moment of eating and drinking

Im going to cancel mine if this follows on the mainland are we are going to(Valenciana) . I can easily go about my UK day to day living in a mask and work in one (scientist). But throwing thousands at a holiday and have to do this isnt for me. Id rather save the money for a time when (if?!) we can holiday without mask use being as strict. I dont think that point of view is hard to understand?

I wouldn't cancel yet and just wait, especially if going August, sep and Oct. It could be that masks are mandatory for the moment and then they will see how things are and relax it again little by little

We still have time to see

But yes Spanish govt will loose tourists over this

No dancing and face masks too much

exactly my thoughts. or on a stroll through ibiza town with few people around - no point

It actually quite upsets me a bit. Not from a selfish point of view, but I think this really will stop a lot of people traveling August / September, and that impacts people with jobs on the island. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but I think this is a bigger issue for many of us than the clubs being closed.

I personally wouldn't cancel a trip over this. yes it's a nuisance but equally when there's noone around, you're not going to comply, let's get real here lol.... it's not like London with CCTV on every corner. are you seriously gonna cancel a holiday over a bit of cloth on your face?

of course, if you're cancelling because the clubs are shut that's a different story but I'm sure there will be some music to be found

+ I would also keep options open because the Spanish and regional governments are updating the rules all the time - it is hard to keep up. if you are in a position to get a late deal that would be my approach
