Yeah bollocks the local residents just so you have a week of fun... What right do we have as tourists to 'dictate' what they do?

Ibiza has laid out it's plans for this summer so far - they may change, so it is up to us tourists to decide if their plans match up with what we expect.

That’s not really what I meant though. At 40+ with family I don’t even do much partying anymore. I do however still go to Ibiza most years. Maybe we would go to one max two parties in a week. One of the good things with Ibiza is that if you do want to party there is access to it whichever day of the week it should fit in to other plans.

I do agree that it is not up to tourists to dictate the safety matters of the inhabitants. It is however up to the government to correctly balance the direct short term safety matters versus the longer term economical implications. Some corrective matters are good and working well. By now we know others are unnecessarily and not working well. Simply said - indoor gatherings, not good. Outdoor gatherings -not so bad.

If you look at Stivis daily corona updates the current situation at Ibiza is not bad compared to the rest of Europe. When the rest of Europe is opening up, and Ibiza is not that’s when I mean it’s unnecessary strict at Ibiza and hurting the inhabitants more than necessary as it is the same clientele that will decide to leave their money in other destinations.

Btw, what do the local residents want? Do they want to continue to open things up, some outside dancing included, or do they want to keep it how things are?

there isn't a reply valid for all.
from 'stop clubbing alltogetether' to 'open it all finally' there's everything in between. there isn't a common ground. opinions differ largely

You know when the season has started, when your go to man sends out a generic WhatsApp message telling you that he is back in business. Which I’ve just received.
Looks like we share the same dealer/group of guys, same time also ?. My friend received his from a different person a couple of days back too.

The majority of the locals that write comments on the Periodico de Ibiza seems to be really anti clubbing and all thing related to the tourism brought by the club scene. “Gentuzza” seem to be the reoccurring word, I’m hoping this is just a small minority and not the general feel. Is the readership of the Periodico the equivalent of the one of the Daily Mail?

I can't really gauge daily mail readership I'm afraid.

there is a very vocal (as proven) anti-clubbing movement, but I personally don't think it reflects the island's general stance on the subject

Happy to hear that Stivi as I’ve always though the majority of the islanders have always been very welcoming and I was starting to feel a bit disappointed after reading those comments.
As for Daily Mail readers, right wing and xenophobia is just two of their qualities, just to give you an idea. ?

I was just about to write the same! With the DM crowd immigration, law and order and house prices are always hot topics :(

it isn't, though. Apart from Switzerland and some regions in the south of Spain I know no country that allows real parties so far. And with recent spikes I'd be very surprised if Exit in Serbia or Croatia beach parties can go ahead.

The "real" big parties/festivals are all canceled (street parade, all festivals..)
Clubs are open under capacities, but people are not rushing in. (I went to 2 parties since opening).
I seriously think, authorities could order closing again.
Keep in mind it's clubbing off season. People are not going indoors, after been locked for 7-8 months. Winter could be quite long.
I get @Fargoer frustration.

not a good sign about illegal parties in villas and boats
Especially since there's a very heavy presence of guardia civil from mainland on the island to deal with this whole mess...

apparently they're on rotation...

very likely that from this weekend onwards we will have to wear masks outside too :(

exceptions are the beach and if you're exercising
That will absolutely kill tourism, if my wife gets wind of it she will want to cancel now and change our holiday for next month to somewhere else as that is not a holiday having to be masked up all the time.. I can imagine will be the same for many no matter how much you love the place it just gets to a point when it no longer makes sense

Same for us. We arrive in 2 weeks, was really looking forward to it but in this way it is indeed not a holiday ..
