we should of fallen in line with the rest of the world, that week or so window has left a few countries to feel similar concern I don't even know if Greece have eased up on us yet have they?

I think there are murmurings there will be an 'air bridge' for Greece and the UK. BA are still planning on running certain flights in early and mid-July.

Easyjet have started sending out emails for people flying up to the 18th July offering them vouchers, presumably so when the flights are cancelled they don't have to refund everyone.

fingers crossed, we are meant to be going to Athens end of August im fairly positive we should have motion in the ocean by then

What capacity does Es Paradis usually get to on most nights? They must be a definite to open with capacity limits, dunno how they manage to operate still. The last time we were tempted in was in 2017 for free and we walked out straight away as it literally had 20 people inside ?

Capacity at a push 2-3k? In reality 100-500 people tops except for special nights. It's a shame, but eden right next door generally has better nights. (Es paradise they need to drop the light levels a bit ?)

Should be good to open then considering they are used to still operating at low numbers. They’ll probably actually fill out the max allowed as people will be more willing to try it if it’s just as busy and with less choice.

Does the roof open up there or did I imagine that?

I'm putting this in here too, it's a post I've done in the coronavirus discussion thread at the end of april

here's a theory - based on an 'all going well' scenario

  • mid may life slowly returns to ibiza with shops and first outdoor terraces of bars/restaurants opening
  • by mid june beaches are open and more places can open more of their shop/restaurant surfaces
  • by the end of june or start of july, all spanish territories are through the four phases and national tourism resumes. around the same dates the situation in lots of european countries has improved massively and EU decides to wait just a little more and then joint-open frontiers and airspaces at the end of july
  • first clubs might open in july, but it's in august when thanks to international travel the season properly gets going and more clubs open
  • season until halloween or later

I won't take it badly if in a few weeks you'll tell me I was wrong, but what if I'm right? ;)

I'll point out again that this is very much a best case scenario and any setback (second waves) might quickly end our hopes for a bit of season. but as of today, I am still hopeful that tourism will return in the second part of summer. the one thing I'm unsurprisingly least convinced about is the clubbing bit.

I still stand by what I said and I can still see it panning out like that.

the big question is still what the balearic government will decide regarding events.

500 ???? That must have been a big night for them ( apart from clockwork ). I popped in there last season to see a pal play and there was about 18 people in there and the bar staff bored shiteless playing on their phones - I think it was called Boom

How are they staying open with those numbers? And how are those 18 people not thinking f*** this i'd rather just go to a west end bar or Itaca/Plastik? ?

It might be a little faster than that hopefully given the EU borders are all either fully open already (Croatia, Slovenia, Italy etc), open sometime this month (Greece, France, Germany etc), or by July 1st (Spain) at the latest - anywhere from a month to 8 weeks ahead of that schedule! Fingers crossed anyway.

For UK tourists we still don't know if we will be allowed to fly/be allowed in anywhere.

TUI and Jet2 have cancelled everything until 10th and 15th July respectively, Easyjet are showing no flights available on the app until 18th July.

Those 2 pricks O'Leary and Walsh can shout all they like about starting to fly on 1st July but if the government won't let them then we are going nowhere. You can't get a haircut until 4th July at the earliest but you can head to Benidorm or Magaluf on the 1st???

Technically you're able to fly anywhere you want though - even right now. Flights are still flying and nobody is stopping you from hopping on one. You could fly London to Ibiza tomorrow as long as you're willing to make a quick stopover in Amsterdam or Madrid. And by July 1st there'll be no arrival quarantine in most of the EU for you. Spain has confirmed that, in an Ibiza context.

Its just the UK government insisting on the 14 day arrival quarantine for people arriving back from their holidays to the UK thats the problem, thats whats making the package holiday airlines (like TUI and jet2) delay their flight resumption dates.

I think he might mean the FCO still has travel advices as 'essential travel only', thus if you do travel, your holiday insurance probs gonna be invalid, plus any other complications.

Have seen people flying to nordic countries to get their hair cut , which is crazy!

Sorry that's not true, I wouldn't get into Ibiza regardless of a stop off somewhere.... they would want to know where i started my journey and a quick look at my passport would see i'm not even allowed to board a flight to Spain never mind be welcomed in if i arrive.

The UK Foreign Office have also said don't travel unless essential. This means any travel insurance you have is null and void so in the event something happens to you then you are on your own.

The travel industry are desperate to get up and running but ultimately the Spanish government haven't said UK tourists are allowed in on the 1st July and the UK government haven't said they are lifting the do not travel advice.
