The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Clubs seem to have to toe the line more than ever these days with remaining 'underground' and catering to the masses and/or VIP's. This to me is a classic example of that with what HI is trying to do a little with their music policy and actual designing of the club. I'll say it again most people probably wont like it (unless you're one of those VIPS), i for one dont like it at all, but i do understand it. I'll make a slight comparison to a New York club which is Output, it was very industrial at the start when it opened 4 years ago or so, very clued up crowd, rugged feel. It now has brand new lighting system, light up railings, craft cocktails, and people go there on a friday/saturday simply bc its a 'cool place to go'. They still book decent talent but it has certainly lost a lot of its 'underground' feel and appeal. Age old question, cater to the masses/VIPS or keep it underground and have integrity with that crowd, my guess not so easy choice and places like Hi will try their best to cater to both.

it's nothing new really. pacha are doing exactly this for solomun and maceo so that the DJ is closer to the vip.
plus the secret garden is pretty much what is the backstage at dc10 (nota bene ibiza's number one 'underground' venue) - just more modern.

I get it that you might not be thrilled, but in this case I'm gonna defend hï, it's not like it was them starting this.

I take you point Stivi about Pacha, but Pacha is long established and always offered the VIP experience more than most, and in doing so attracts an older crowd and plenty of cash with them. rightly or wrongly Pacha has become a VIP brand over the years and there's always been plenty of alternative if people didn't like it.
With regards to DC10 I can't agree, as it may have a VIP area out the back but the actual club both main room and terrace are still as underground as ever , musically and crowd wise.
The new Hi has taken a brilliant club in a great location and brought in a disproportionate amount of VIP shit, excluding regular clubbers from larger parts of the club then before. It's their club now and they'll do what they want with it but it doesn't change the fact a great clubbing space has been lost to this pretentious VIP rubbish.

So you are saying they have taken a great club and ruined it but what if they left it the exact same, as an amazing club, what would your thoughts be? Space was going regardless of this, hi haven't kicked space out! Also Space had VIP along with every other Ibiza club! I'm sure if Pacha was being built today it would have a VIP presence very much the same as Hi

Massively disagree. Maybe in 2008. In 2017? No.

Paradise is largely full of idiots, regardless of the calibre of acts on.
Circo is better but there is still an element of that Joey Essex-type clubber who goes to be seen (and make a scene) and not for the music.

As for what type of crowd Wild Life will bring.. I think we know the answer.

If you want a clued-up, underground crowd at DC-10 in 2017, Diynamic is your safest bet.

People really need to open there eyes abit! VIP is in every single club you go to just maybe Hi is pushing it a little more than others.

Seems great, i like how there's windows in the club room and how the DJ is in the centre. The sunset terrace with the gardens seems good too, and I'm liking the bathroom with a DJ in it. Honestly can't wait !
The outside garden bit seems like it will be a very nice place to have a breather!

Fair enough , there is an element of that Circo Loco with people coming for a look and a selfie but they are massively outnumbered and generally don't stay too long.
I have never been to Paradise but have heard the crowd isn't great.

Yeah it does and it gives views outside as well. I'm really looking forward to this, theatre room seems awesome with the light fixtures. I think the VIP concerns are overblown and I'm honestly paying high covers in Ibiza not only for talent but for something cool like this as well. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised by this and enjoy this experience.

The whole thing stinks. Damn right there should be a backlash against Hi. Wasn't privy to the posts that got taken down, but if we blindly go on giving support to an organisation that is trying to turn Ibiza into Vegas, one day we'll all be sorry. You should thank the dissenters, they have all our interests at heart.

Are 100 or 1000 people boycotting a club going to make a difference? Not really.

It was said earlier, for every 1 person who won't go because of whatever reason, there are 100 who are dying to go.

Can you back those figures up. You never know, for every 1 person who doesn't go, for whatever reason, there could be 500 people dying to go?

Of course I can't. But the specific figures weren't my point.

The point is, go or don't go. The place will thrive regardless.

Reading what the club is going to look like completely confirms my fears. It sounds like an EDM clubbers dream. I don't expect no underground feel to the club. How can you with all the VIP areas and the plants / trees in the garden.?

It doesn't sound like the club will be a venue suitable for Techno!! I am interested to see how the sound system matches up to Space, particularly in the Discoteca but very much doubt I'll ever go to Hi, so may never know.

the club (what used to be terraza) will definitely be suitable for techno. I was there last week and for my personal tastes, this room has a lot of potential. I know I shouldn't say this because I've not seen the finished thing (building site visit with builder's hat on), but yeah I do think that room will be it.

I like the idea of a DJ at eye level - just like fabric - it makes for a better atmosphere. Right idea I reckon

see, lots of the old guard will hate me for this probably. but when yann explained us a few things a month or two back and latest when I saw the venue last week with my own eyes, it's obvious they have thought a lot of things through. all the VIP stuff aside, details like lower dj booth in the club (ex terraza), lots and lots of toilets, changes in the layout of the club that improve traffic on the dancefloor (changes that will actually avoid a lot of traffic on the dancefloor) - they really will be beneficial to everyone.
