Vegas is the antithesis of nearly everything that I hope to see for Ibiza. I would rather go out into the desert, with nothing around for miles, than to go to Las Vegas - no matter who or what's going on there! Ibiza is different, it's not "artificial" - even with the new hotels & the super clubs. It's much more holistic and organic. However, the reality is that it's also very deservedly, World Renowned - every bit as much as Vegas, in a very real way, even more so. And that's precisely the problem: it's SO lucrative that it's already captured the attention of the world's biggest & most well monied players. And they absolutely LOVE takeovers! I would much rather do everything in my powers to help keep the ownership out of the hands of the huge gambling & resort corporations, & keep it as much as possible, Ibizan. I'd work hard to win the hearts of ALL of the island's players, big & small, nice or nasty, to come together and sketch out a plan for its future. When I read in Maxxim magazine, about a girl descending from the ceiling with a bottle of champagne, as a Harley Davidson comes roaring out onto the stage; as a part of a guys $250,000 VIP package, I realized it's only a matter of time before Ibiza is in the que for this type of big-shot extravagance. Sadly, it's pretty much arrived as on stage Ushuaia VIP tables go for $10,000. So the question becomes, can people set aside their differences, grudges, & biases long enough to focus on the prize - the ultimate future for Ibiza. The healthiest future possible. I'd rather look for even just one thing that we could come to agree upon. Absolutely anything that would be good for Ibiza & then I'd bust ass to get it done. And I would get it done by holding my tongue on everything else that I didn't like, knowing that at least we would be getting SOMETHING good accomplished. I'd also encourage others to do the same, & find their own "one thing" to help Ibiza. Squaring off, no matter how much one might disagree with another, effectively strips you of any ability to influence one other. I would love to have any opportunity to have a positive impact on this magical place: before it's too late!
