The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Theres a night in B'ham called secret city. The promoter goes around the citys disused warehouse and basements and throws techno partys (after sorting out all the political stuff). Nothing fancy just stripped back and raw. £3 on drinks....You see signs on lamposts saying "secret city and the date" but the only way to get people to the location is by sending them a text message a few hours before the night begins .

The punter gives their number after buying a ticket for about a tenna. Thats the closest brum has to a "very underground" party a great idea I think.

Bloody Hell! That is pretty good. Is he THE only resident?
Probably a good idea of HiUsh to focus on ONE artist as opposed to a super-market of DJs like Elrow etc

well it won't be just him alone. him and guests.
way back in this thread I said that if it's on the right day it'll work for him. as you see it's on saturdays, the same dates as ants, so it shouldn't be too hard for them to get the ants folk over to hi after midnight.

True. And I assume double-tickets + wrist bands etc. I am guessing that Ushuaia guests will get free entry to Hi too?

Digbeth has a small scene.. LAB11 and Rainbows although Below has now finished which was a cracking party.

oh I guess that will very much depend on how well the venue works. but yeah I'm pretty sure there will be stuff like combined tickets or reduced entry if you've been to ants etc. time will tell.

has anybody checked yet whether you get free entry if you stay at ushuaïa? @El_Diablo care to explain those details?

Yeah face aswell that was a cracking party now finished. I will be at Rainbow in April for Chapter Festival alot or the big hitters are there...overall I prefer TRMNL at Lab11...more intimate.

A pal of mine did a few gigs up TRMNL when it first opened up Hockley a few years back. They closed it because of the noise... so they say.

I'm surprised, but I can see it fitting Hi. Black Coffee is a DJ with some underground appeal in Ibiza due to circoloco but with a much more commercial sound when you listen to his productions/album. what a cheesefest :)

Perfect for a Saturday night in Ibiza then!

He will no doubt fit right in then.

it's underground if

a. very few people know about it
b. it's borderline legal / illegal
c. it's dirty and probably in contravention of every health & safety directive known to man (see also b)
d. the music is seriously obscure
e. it's not advertised anywhere
f. there's usually restrictions on entry / a password / some secrecy (see also a)

I know a few 100% ibicencos bars exactly like this... :D
Specially for the b and c parts.

at the end of the 90s lots of people got really bored with big production house music and the whole electro/minimal thing emerged from that and now in a way I think a lot of forward thinking people in music are bored with what came out of that - dubstep fizzled out, EDM is a joke, whilst 'tech' got boring, so maybe there is a dearth of new ideas at the moment?

Great music through out history, has generally come from a bored, aggressive, skint, pissed off youth with no future... So now should be a perfect time for them to wake from their slumber?

when I first went to Space I was appalled that they were selling merchandise inside. my inner hippy just melted. so I came on here and ranted about it and was made to feel like I'd blasphemed (thou must never slag off Space). I know fabric had a cd dispenser but does berghain have a shop inside? can anyone confirm?

Berghain does have a shop by the coat check. And there is something kinda fun when you are wth friends dancing in the shop off your face buying crap for friends and yourself. I enjoyed it my first time and my last time.
