The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

as far as I know they do yeah.

it's all rumours for now really, but from what I've heard (and what also would make sense to me) is that...

a) they apparently won't actually use all of the old space rooms. if you look at it as a night club only, it's pretty clear which ones those could be...
b) they'll update/change the ones they will use.

but I'll say it again, 'tis all just rumours. I guess we'll only find out when they open or reveal some plans themselves!
Are there no public planning laws that need to be publicly advertised before a building can be altered/built etc in Spain? That way we'd know what's on their minds!

no specialist on that front but I think only when you change it from the outside? maybe someone else on here knows?

gotcha ali and M.E., a few valid points there, but here's why I'd still be surprised:

the same company (the matutes' group) managed to refurb and open hard rock hotel within just one winter. and that was a huge thing. changing space into '(insert club's new name here)' will definitely mean less work than that. especially because it's the matutes group, I am sure they can easily get that done in the months they've got left. prove me wrong, but I believe it's totally doable. furthermore, keep in mind that not opening for 2017 could mean quite a hefty loss of earnings. and knowing that there are ongoing talks with various promoters also makes me believe they'll open next summer and not only in 2018 ;)
I would bet for 2017 :)

 f***ing great ain't it. Didn't i read somewhere that it was the golden era...?

So where does that leave 'space the brand' as its called on the other thread in starting up something new. And is this just a move by matutes to eliminate any other compatition,or certainly put a spanner in the works for the space as we know it?

two days ago I heard that in the end the venue might keep the name space. from everything I had heard in the last three years, that definitely wasn't the original plan. and I think it could actually have something to do with the license as to why they keep the name.

The capo Matutes spoke:

- Matutes recalls that he created the Space nightclub and announces that he will Keep on the name "SPACE", provably together with another NAME in relation of his hotel brands, like Ushuaia or Hard Rock...

- Provably will open next summer

- There will be no reforms in the building :!::!:

-His business group built the discotheque located on the second line of Platja d'en Bossa and after five or six years of manage it, decided to rent it to Pepe Rosello. "He had experiences in clubs of Sant Antoni and I thought it was a good point to enhance the complementary activities in Platja d'en Bossa. We renewed the rent but that lease ends on December 31 and we have recovered it

Previous interventions:
- To become a kind of night extension of Ushuaïa, focused on a more exclusive tourism segment.

So what other names were in the running for the new Space up until now?

Obviously Ushuaia night was bollocks...

Hang on so matutes own the land, they built the club and named it space and run it as space for a few years before letting pepe come in to manage it. Is that right? Because im sure carl cox painted a slightly different picture during his space is the place programme the other week
