The BNP

I really don't think there is an undercurrent of support for the BNP on this forum.

I do.

I don't think anyone has condoned the use of violence either. (Ignore my sarcasm ;))
People are justifiably cross with the BNP that's all.

try living or working in the areas that the BNP have a foothold in, and you will probably understand why thousands of people will vote for them.

lets see how happy you would be with life if suddenly the area if busloads of "foreigners" are dumped into your area, and given access to services you have paid for with your taxes.

try living in an area where investment in the community has ground to a halt cos the moneys being diverted to look after these people.

We've got Hazel Blears again warning that the BNP will gain more support, if politicians dont start listening to local people.

Can you at least understand why "normal" people would support the BNP, when your life becomes such that you feel alienated in an area where youve lived for most of your life?

All very cosy when youre say down reading about how awful these BNP people and anyone associated with them are over your morning skinny decaf low fat latte.

I live in an area of Manchester that is 'swamped' (c daily mail) with immigrants. The 'normal' people who join the far right are largely the dole scum who are seekin a reason. I tossed a coin, it landed on heads, so this must be a fact;).

'try living in an area where investment in the community has ground to a halt cos the moneys being diverted to look after these people'

where has this happened? is it a fact or perception?

perception. what people perceive is far more accurate no matter how right the facts are to prove otherwise.

Why are you trying to pigeon hole people in this way?

Because people don't have the same opinion as you, why the insults?

It's weak. Very weak.

And your justification of the BNP is ridiculous.

You're right, poverty and ignorance breeds hate. But it doesn't justify it.

I really don't think there is an undercurrent of support for the BNP on this forum. Just because some people don't think it's fair that somebodys name and address be broadcast all over the internet for political gain does not mean they support the victims. Somebody already mentioned there is also a similar list called Redwatch. Both sites are plain stupid and show both groups up to be as pathetic as each other.

There is definitely an undercurrent for the use of violence for political reasons on this forum. When people use violence for political reasons then it is the end of democracy. Leave that kind of thing to the third world where they are better at it.

I think one person mentioned violence, in a flippant way. I certainly don't think that the BNP members should come to harm because of this incident.

Extremism in all forms is bull****.

Its really common to find this anti immigrant/muslim undertone in your rants. The same sentiment I hear in the extreme right (but Im not a racist cos I got a black friend) circles. Smells like xenophobia. Its really sad that people are normalizing extreme right these days. The only thing we learn from history is that we dont learn...

who says im trying to justify the BNP! but im not the one pigeonholing them ALL as racists.
is everyone who voted BNP at the local elections a racist therefore a neo nazi, and deserve to be "outed" in such a way, just because theyre the only people who listens to their concerns?

have you ever been subjected to racial abuse while walking down the street, with people making snidey "chinese noises" as if you dont understand a word theyre saying?

poverty and ignorance does breed hate, and in no way does it justify it, but for some voting BNP is the only way they think they have a voice. but does that mean they should have thier car torched.

im anti illegal/uncontrolled immigration thank you very much. whether theyre white, black, yellow or martian. This country can only cope with so many people.

No.

Not ever.

(ever.)

Everyone is entitled to an opinion (including me before you start branding me a pinky lefty skinny latte drinking wooly liberal which is berluddy irritating tbh)...this is a democracy after all. ;)

...I think it would be very short sighted of anyone to vote BNP in the case you've outlined. These problems may well exist in their local communities but this is not a reason to start enforcing anti-immigration laws and complaining about a lack of local jobs and tax funded services due to 'foreigners'. A different approach is needed - and certainly not one that ousts tax paying minorities.

That's the sort of mentality that gets people like Bush in power.

Bored of this debate now - can we just go back to underlining all BNP supporters as bigots please?

Wasnt an insult, i had a skinny decaf this morning from Costas.

And yes the BNP are bunch of scumbags, but as i keep saying CONTROLLED immigration, christ, there is a huge diff.

If a politician came out and say "hang on, why are the BNP gaining support", and listened and acted on peoples concerns, they wouldnt have as much support as they do at present.

;)

(It was an insult Chewie - you're always running down lefty types from the comfort of YOUR skinny latte!)

...But granted, when you put it like that you're absolutely right. ;)

Still - these people are also bigots if the first thing they'll do is abate their anger by supporting a bunch of right wing cnuts. Stop making excuses for them.

agreed that we can not have unlimited entry.

but that in an extreme kind of way does not seem right. who the f are we to put the barriers up now it now we have nailed the resources down. one world, one people, move as you please.

now i'm being completely impractical i know but i think this should be taken as our starting point & allowed where possible.

christ we have a cheap standard of living in part, off the back of the factory workers of the very countries we then say 'make our toys for 2p a day but don't even think of stepping foot in here'

something morally dodgy to me here.

many of the cultures we welcome here have a tradition of entreprenership, as opposed to the lazy fooks, complacement fooks they often displace.

and how many people leave these shores to emmigrate in balance?

point is i, and many like me (and i hope many on here) think that the impact of immigration upon the population as a whole is exagerated by the likes of the daily mail & bnp for their own end.

agree 100% that BNP can not be excused, even for a protest vote.....(vote lib dem, socialists, SNP, green, or god forbid even UKIP).

olly - there is no real sympathy/support on here the BNP. polack's comments can be dismissed cos its polack.

chewie is a thatcher fan, so it'd be no surprise if he made nick griffin look like a burn your bra liberal.

Will read the whole thread when time permits. Wanted to add my disgust at some of my fellow country folk after an incident yesterday.

Sold my old fiat Punto to a Polish guy, he asked me to drive it to Barnsley and he would give me a lift back to Leeds. We chatted plenty on the way back and he basically said he was off back to Polond as soon as possible. He talked of the numerous comments about Polish people taking all the jobs, a situation he envisaged getting much worse with the economy as it is. A hard working guy leaving this wretched country in fear. I felt utterly ashamed of being English. What the hell is wrong with people? Makes me so fecking angry.
