Teachers

But I'll admit I was lucky. My district growing up was among the top 10 or 20 of the 1000s of counties in the US when it came to public education. Given that, I'd give even more respect to the men and women who try to do what my teachers did in tougher inner city environments.

Again.. really can't believe we're having this discussion!

Where did you grow up? Montgomery County, MD just topped the US graduation rate rankings. I can tell you that those teachers make next to nothing for the work that they perform. To top it off, they have to live in an area where the cost of living is through the roof. I had some teachers that would pay out of pocket for extra supplies/trips/etc.

On the flip side, I knew of some teachers that would smoke joints or drink with the students and just kick up their heels and make us work out of the textbook all period.

Across the river in Fairfax County, VA.

Pretty much the same story over there. The two counties are almost identical in a lot of ways.

BBC reporter at Highbury Magistrates Court, John Brain, tells BBC 5 live: "the first person who appeared in the dock this morning was a 31-year-old teacher called Alexis Bailey. She pleaded guilty to being part of the looting of the Richer Sounds store in Croydon"."

Yeah but they've had their pensions cut and all that so obviously that makes it OK then :)roll:)

Pubic sector workers , including teachers, set to strike this winter! Crikey, why not just have the whole year off?

ahhh actually seeing Buckley has just bumped this thread, its made me wana start a new thread but seeing its on topic....did anyone catch 'Educating Essex' last night on Channel 4....

Buckley, you might change your view of Teachers, although very doubtful im sure ;), after watching it...

It was actually hilarious, the deputy teacher of this school was wicked, if all teachers were like him, then maybe the poor attitude of this generation of kids might not be so bad imo
