stivi's ibiza chronicles

This is very interesting, I've been thinking about climbing up there.
How long will it take from where you left your car?

not too long actually. i think it took me about 30mins to get up there, but better calculate a bit more than that - i'm mostly walking quite fast. the view is really splendid from up there!

Thanks Stivi, that sounds ok, another thing...is the dirt track from salada hire-car friendly?
Maybe it might be better to park at the beach, walk from there and make a day of it?

the dirt road is absolutely ok with the exception of the last few hundred meters, it gets really bumpy there. but sure, make a proper walk out of it and start from cala salada!

Ah... I've been there. I was a little disappointed by the cave after making the trek!

You can drive much of the way up, but if I remember correctly, I was definitely not impressed by the road!

well there's a no vehicles sign now at a certain point, so you can't drive up that much anymore anyway. when i drove there the first time a few years ago, i remember i drove up further than i could this time around. now it's honestly only the last few hundred meters which are a bit dodgy, the rest is ok...but then again i'm also quite used to ibiza dirt roads now haha!

so...i think ibiza has just seen the coldest week of this winter. a week ago it got really cold with some crisp winds which made even a sunny day feel really chilly. then we also got some rain, and last sunday night, when i was on my way to santa ines, i swear i saw some snowflakes (i was completely sober!). the full moon walk i was going to then got postponed to monday night due to the bad weather. on monday night the sky was (at least particially) clear so we had a lovely, but bitterly cold full moon walk on the pla de santa ines - with some last remaining almond blossom (the wind had taken a lot of it away already). it stayed cold for another few days and then thursday and all yesterday, it rained. proper downpour. and this on balearic's day - bank holiday. it rained almost all day, something that doesn't happen too often here, but I made the best out of it and enjoyed my day at home. that's something else that doesn't happen too often because the weather mostly gets better over the day and you still get the chance to go out. but here's how ibiza looked on thursday afternoon

Stivi I love this picture so much! All it took was a storm to win me over

a few quick impressions from the past few days (nights)

wisdom of the glove opening at pacha - just went quickly to have a look. beautiful décor, really great effort on the visual side of things. will post more about the music side of things when i've spent more time at the party. apart from that, the rooftop terrace has been slightly remodeled. a bit less playful than before, but still a fantastic hangout. pacha needs to have a word with themselves though when it comes to drink prices, really.

ims parties thu and fri - friday was obviously more to my musical taste, but this event always wins the spotlight oscar for party location of the year. great stuff. and sven's set was fantastic.

sankeys opening - only went on thursday. veeeery busy everywhere and the L.A.B. (ex box) is a superb room now!

ushuaïa opening - massive line up obviously. MJC was on very early unfortunately, couldn't understand why they put her on so early. was she playing elsewhere the same night maybe? ushuaïa opening went on til 4:30am by the way.

space opening - not the biggest line up we've ever seen, agree on comments made earlier. but it was still a great one. can't help but think it's still space opening that really marks the start. seeing all rooms packed with people having a great time just makes you realise "summer's here!".

dc10 opening - very big in terms of lineups. you've probably seen the pictures of the now wooden decked garden. big effort done on this. also - and this is probably the most important point - the terrace soundsystem is fixed now.

overall everywhere was very busy.

^^ You must be knackered. The Sankeys developments look interesting ... tell us more about the ex box !

pacha needs to have a word with themselves though when it comes to drink prices, really.

Does that mean you had to pay for drinks, Stivi ? 8O ;) What prices are we talking now ? It was 25 Euros a Vodka Redbull on FMIF night a couple of years ago. That's the worst I've seen in recent years even topping Amnesia's balcony bar 22Euros !

i was a bit tired today i must admit ;) but it was well worth it.

sankeys lab - good soundsystem (the final one is coming in a month's time i am told), much better use of the space - won't tell you more than this for now. go see for yourself!

erm yeah it does happen that we end up paying for a drink or two. and 18€ for a copa de hierbas (not a shot though) is definitely over the limit IMO. i was then told it should be 16€ not 18€ but that's still too much for a single hierbas.

^^ :). Yes that's steep. It's almost like minimum drink pricing whatever you order. I found similar in DC-10 when I realized a red bull was 2 Euros less than one with a massive multi-shot of vodka. To their credit they gave me the vodka and the redbull separately (believe it or not I actually didn't want any more alcohol but seemed criminal to pay that for a mixer drink !) - and so some lucky person at the bar got a massive glass of vodka for 2 Euros. Well - waste not want not as they say !

You're determined to get me to get my bum on a plane aren't you  It's complicated !!!

... how do you know you're in ibiza?
you stumble out of bed in the morning (or actually, at any time of day), put on your normal fm radio and get simply brilliant music all day through igr ...
omg ... un****ingbelievable good muzik @ i-global today since hours ... :D

apart from all the work-party-sleep on repeat pattern, i've managed to escape for a few hours today...

Stivi
Was going to pm you nearer the time but hey ho, as you have done this great guide its prompted me!
I am over for the closing weekend and want to do Amnesia on the Sunday morning through til the mid afternoon. What and how is the best way to guarantee entry at say 8/9 am, is the closing party ticket from the Sat valid or cash on the door etc?
Cheers
Paul
