well im there at the end of June, so hopefully it will be done by then if not, im back in august so should definitely be finished.

You never know, it might be an improvement but i dont think it will. Mambo has lost a load of outside space so it will be even harder to get a table on an evening!!

the space they had belongs to the coastal authorities even if during all these years the bars, fine after fine, used it the way they wanted (in the case of kanya for example even building a swimmingpool right next to the sea ! ! ). they arent stealing anything to anybody..... it is THEIR space so they can do whatever they want!! :idea:

in related news, cafe del mar fined with 11.100€ for installing their tables and chairs in a public space without authorization:

So where are cafe del mar and Mambo going to have seating?there is no room?also what about when Mambo have Pete Tong etc there?or will these events no longer take place?,im not happy with this at all it has totally wrecked the sunset strip,will never be the same
 
Interesting. Never realised where the ownership of the land was. Guess, while it's a shame bits of the bars were being 'taken back' , there's no real complaints when you think about it.
 
exactly the same happened when the first prom was built round the bay. lots of bars and hotels lost 'their' terraces because the prom was built according to the official plans of the coastal authorities/council .
 
ssshhhhh. don't tell anyone i used an archive sunset shot i took on a freezing cold winter afternoon for that article

no official announcement yet but a little birdie tells me that this year the san antonio council wants all the bars (except those with license till 6am) to close at 3am..... one hour earlier!! :eek:

on a curious note, its impossible to get a 6am license at the moment because theres a moratorium for i-dont-know-how-many-years.....

I guess some people haven't figured out that a lot of people go to Ibiza to stay up late. I think this will hurt tourism a little bit. 3 A.M. sounds way to early, 4 not to bad.
