Foundation Stone of New Bus Station Laid.
Pleased to be laying the foundation stone for the new bus station in Sant Antoni last week despite opposition from some affected land owners & hoteliers in the area (specially the very pissed off owner of piscis park who will lose some of his land and who is writing letters to the newspapers every week complaining about it-Mc), the Mayor of Sant Antoni, Jose Sala, apparently said it was a much needed improvement for the town. Designed to keep the public service buses from having to enter & pass through the centre of the town
the very-weird-looking new bus station, which was expected to be ready last summer, will be inaugurated in a few weeks..... so if you are, for example, at cafe del mar you will have to walk a bit more as the bus stop near villa mercedes will disappear :!:

cheers for the pics really interested to see how it's all progressing. Still find it really strange seeing everything all shut up I'm going to have to come in the quieter months and have a better look around everywhere! Looking at some of your other pics and seeing where the promenade finishes, there's still gonna be a good space of rocks between the promenade and the sea for people to sit at sunset?

now theres more space than before. if you look at this old picture you will understand why.....

..... but it will depend on how big the new wooden platforms in front of the bars are!!

see what you mean no doubt the wooden platforms will be substantial to make more room for their paying customers rather than those who have 'brought their own'

from the ibiza sun:

Flower Power.
Reliving the late 60's & early 70's hundreds of residents of all ages joined in with the Flower Power party staged in Sant Antoni at the weekend. With the centre of the town decorated with colourful awnings & balloons, market stalls selling hippy clothing & acessories lined the entrance to the main marquee where a DJ played music from the era for the crowd to dance the night away. Over 20 bars located in the vicinity joined in with the fun & a group played live on the back of a tractor trailer being towed around the streets of the town passing by all the bars who had participated in with the fun. A fantastic night was had by all!

erm, apparently cafe del mar plans to do a new bar there!!

as you might remember, last year ramón guiral, co-owner of CDM, opened a new restaurant called cafe del sol (next to il vaticano) and they also own the old building between CDM and savannah which is expected to turn into a bar in the future.....

5 mts long..... so jez71 was right: more space for the paying customers than before (except for savannah, which had a lot more space before) :!:

so what happens with those who have brought their own? apparently all along the promenade there will be a railing but NO STAIRS TO DESCEND TO THE ROCKS..... like on the old promenade, which has a wall where theres rocks and no wall where theres sand. so expect to see lots of people jumping down the railing.....

the street A (londres) was improved two years ago and the street B (ramón y cajal) last year because they were already planning this development in between. among other things, they will also build a hospital in that side of the town.....

Can i just say thank you for all your interesting pictures. Keep them coming, I am currently sat waiting to finish work and they have really entertained me.

on a curious note..... from the ibiza sun:

Control Your Pets Or Else.

After handing out free doggie pooh bags at pet shops, town hall buildings & vets in the town, the council has still not managed to convince pet owners to stop their animals fouling public areas. In response they have decided to implement a more severe fine system, which will be imposed by the police & hopefully make dog lovers pick up the mess their pets make in the town's streets. The fines imposed will be 30 to 90€ if the pet owner is found to be in the streets or public areas of the town without a bag to ready to pick up any excrement their animal makes. Fines of 90 to 150€ will be imposed on the owners of those animals which do "pooh" in the streets & the owner fails to pick it up. Finally fines of 150 to 300€ will be imposed on any pet owner who allows their animal to make a mess in public play areas or gardens. Interestingly, in the reports there was no mention of dogs "poohing" on beaches in the town but hopefully this has been covered in the fine system or it could lead to a very unpleasant situation for people using the town's beaches.
