did you know that the san antonio mayor (josé sala) showed his interest in creating a
new paseo marítimo in ses variades - between mambo / rey de copas and coastline
cafe / sunsea bar?

according to the newspapers (thursday 2nd) the president of the consell insular (pere
palau) will support making that land buidable and the construction of a new port!!

update!!

100.000 square meters of land will be buildable in ses variades if the parlament balear
approves the reform. funnily enough 78.714 meters belong to abel matutes (the owner
of half of the island - including space)!!

ha, ha,....typical commercial photos,....in nature it looks like a ruin, no athmosphere,....there were beautiful pine woods before they built it,...and the building phase took over ten years!,...looked really amazing

hopefully they wont build there - surely San Antonio needs more beaches - make this a white
sand beach and it would increase the beauty of the area more than another group of concrete
buildings

i agree but abel matutes (the owner of most of that land) has the power to do whatever
he wants!!

the idea is not new, thomas lanz , the owner of restaurante el yate (last one in the port), told
me that years ago,...I think this will be the end of the so called"sunsetstrip"

many years ago they talked about doing a new promenade to connect the beginning of the
port (where el yate is situated) and ses variades (sunset strip)!!

according to diario de ibiza (saturday 15th) the matutes family confirmed that they will present
their project to the city council as soon as that land in ses variades is buildable again. the
reform of the law (probably approved next tuesday) will allow to build 600 apartments for
1800 persons and a port for about 300 moorings (supposedly to attract tourists with higher
purchasing power ). according to the sketch from the original project (late 90s) that
appeared in the newspaper yesterday the proposed new port would be built from in front of
the old building next to coastline cafe to in front of the bars in the sunset strip
