Losing that beer belly in time for Ibiza

Weighed myself last week on Thursday morning and was 14stone 3lb . Went the gym Thursday, Saturday and played racket ball Wednesday. Didnt diet, just tried not to eat after 7pm( which I find extremely hard). Weighed myself this thursday and im 14stone. Ive got a sheet stuck to the inside of the cuboard in the kitchen with every thursday from now till I go to Ibiza. This way ive figured when I start routing through it for snacks ill see it and it will stop me eating.

I have always been a massive fan of running and always thought this would be the best way to lost weight, used to do 60 - 90 min runs 3 times a week with a bit of swimming too and didnt notice any difference. (not that i need to lose weight just want rid of the gut )

I was determined to lose my mini beer gut before my hols this year so i totally changed my diet and have started doing an hours weights followed by 15 mins of speed interval training 5 days a week.

In the four weeks since i've been doing this i've put on 1/2 stone but the gut has almost totally gone and signs of a 6 pack are on the way.

My diet these days is:
6am - Banana & Black Coffee followed by the gym
8am - Chicken with two pices of wholemeal toast & 3 weetabix, a banana and a Protein shake
Snacks - Nuts & Raisins with some cooked chicken as well
1pm - Tuna Salad
Snacks - Nuts & Raisins with some cooked chicken as well
5-6pm - Potatos / veg and some form of fish or meat
Water is all i drink throughout the day too but i'll usually have the odd brew or two at night.

do you not get bored of that diet?

do you not get bored of that diet?

No, it's weird. I used to be the king or eating sh*te food, never really ate fruit or veg and loved the odd takeaway a few times a week.

I'd always snack on chocolate or crisps but now i go for healthier options, at the end of the day it's just food for fuel. Still have the odd day when they'll be some crap thrown in somewhere but im used to my new diet now and enjoy it.

Good on you mate, sounds like you are doing well.

I'm the same as yourself, I run 3-4 times a week, anything between 2 to 10 miles and hit the gym 2-3 times a week and although I feel fit and healthy, I just can't shake the gut off.

I need to cut out the little bits of crap that I eat but don't know if I could stick to your above diet. I also have a bad addiction to fizzy drinks.

For some reading on what you should eat try The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain. It is excellent, not faddy with an good quality research base for what it recommends. I train in a weight class sport so need to get to 10st 5.5 and do it with out really ever getting hungry. Just had to get used to eating loooots of salad and veg.

As for exercise everything Firefighter is bang on the money. You need to decide what your training goals are. If you primarily want to lose body fat, which will improve your muscle definition, then it is all about the cardio and HIIT. If you want to bulk up then have a look at some body building websites and start doing some routines. It is very hard to do both at the same time though, bulking up takes serious calories and protein intake.

What ever you do the key thing is consistency. To get decent results you have to keep at it, let us know how you get on.

I followed this diet before my wedding last summer and would highly reccommend it. It worked a treat and I was never hungry.

Everyday for the last 6 weeks i've been doing this diet:

Breakfast: special k
Snack: banana
Lunch: chicken/mackeral salad
Snack: Apple/grapes
Dinner: Veg and some fish or meat depending what i had for lunch.

I also drink 3 litres of water a day which fills you up and stops you eating all the crap.

I've lost over a stone, done minimal exercise to!

If anyone is interested in a really good protein powder, I highly recommend AMP Wheybolic Extreme. The refining process is top notch and the protein itself is pure whey isolate and whey hydrolysate. If you research it, you'll see that these are the two purest forms of whey protein. With all the protein powders that are out there, I know some of you may wonder which one to go for. Trust me, I've tried a lot of them and I've seen better results on the AMP Wheybolic. AND, I've actually leaned up some since I've been on it. BUT, then again, it may not work for everyone the way it's worked for me. I mean, if you hit the weights hard then you're gonna build leaner, more dense muscle with this stuff. It's only my recommendation...=) AND since everyone is posting their meal plan, and I've got nothin better to do on a Thursday night, here's mine:

Breakfast: 6 Hard Boiled eggs (no yolk), half grapefruit, oatmeal w/raisins and or nuts.

**********Gym Time***********

Protein Shake

Lunch: Usually chicken, turkey, or tuna, small portion of rice or potatoes, steamed vegetables, and salad

*********Back to the Gym**********

Protein Shake

Dinner: Pretty much the same as lunch, but less carbs.

And one more Protein Shake before bed. I use "Syntha 6" for my nighttime shake, as it's got more cassien protein which takes longer to absorb, so it's like an extended release protein. SO, I hope you've all enjoyed this. OH, and I do "cheat" from time to time. Love some pecan pie and a cheeseburger here and there. Okay, thats it. Any questions?

Do you to the gym twice a day every day ?!

Not everyday, but most days. Sometimes I'll go and hit the weights early, then go back to do my cardio. Or sometimes I'll just hit two different body parts on the same day, so I just split it up into two separate sessions. About an an hour to an hour and a half each. :D

In my office today all i've heard the women going on about is how they are sticking to their weightwatchers points diet but still havent managed to lose any weight!
None of them do any exercise though so what do they expect?! Idiots!

I sometimes try and hit the gym twice a day, before and after work but the after session usually just ends up being a swim and sauna. Started to do more HIIT and really feeling the benefits from it.

Seriously need to get involved in some proper HIIT....

Trying to get the gf into the world of excercise is chronically painful

Cannot wait to find out if i got in the marathon - actually itching to get bang on the training for it :D

WW DOES work without doing any exercise but you've got to stick to your points quite religiously. I did it a few years ago with my friend who wanted to lose weight for her wedding. I lost 10lb and I wasn't going to the gym then - just being really strict on the points.

I'm guessing these ladies might either be fibbing about what they might be eating or miscounting their points..... ;)

I stand corrected then, although by exercise i mean some form of movement, these women drive everywhere, get the lifts to get upstairs and sit on their arse all day.

It's highly annoying that my housemate drives everywhere and eats crap all the time and is a skinny minnie !! I am very active and eat alot better but i put weight on so much easier :( I have managed to get down stone and half since xmas without going near a gym though :)

Yep I work with one of those.

One day moaning "I cant lose any weight"

Then the next admitting she doesn't do a scratch of exercise and scoffing a Ginsters steak & Kidney slice for lunch. EVERY DAY.
