Losing that beer belly in time for Ibiza

I'd be lost without meat. I eat it every day.

I still enjoy meat (a nice bloody steak esp :D), but it's not that hard to cut down and it's good for the wallet, animals, planet and yer own health. There's a lot of nice veggie food: stir fries, souffle, pasta dishes, bean stews, veggie curries, pizza, etc. I prob appreciate it more now I eat it less. And I don't see the point in healthy cuts of meat: I'd rather have meat 4* a week and eat the fat (if it's crispy), skin, etc than have a miserable skinless chicken breast every night.

What's the point in eating an egg without the yolk? The yolk is the best bit, plus it's wasteful to throw it away. Just eat less eggs.

Egg yolks are not going to give you any kind of heart problem. I think some of you need to get up to date on health and nutrition. ;)

Boardgrrl -

A typical day when not at the gym would be something like;

7.30am - Fish and fruit for breakfast

11.30am - Big bowl of salad (with plenty of peppers, spinach and tomatos) with fresh tuna.

3.30am - Sweet potato, broccholi, spinach and lean steak

7.30pm - Stir fried veg and chicken

Snacks - fruit, nuts and seeds

Drinks - Water, water and water

how do you manage that?

i refuse to believe this is a routine.

Today I was mainly eating -

Mackerel and a banana for breakfast

Home made leak soup for lunch

Sweet potato, spinach, broccholi and pork for tea

with 2 more bananas, 2 apples and sunflower seeds as snacks.

And I quite enjoyed all of it.

If you're truly dedicated, you can make anything a routine. And thats the most important thing. Making it a lifestyle. If you keep picking dates to look for a change, you're probably gonna get discouraged and quit. But when it's part of everyday life, the changes come before you're even aware of it. Funny how that works.

I have never had any problems with energy, in fact I feel a lot better than I did before changing my diet.

So if you don't have a problem with energy then why 4 feeds plus snacks? It just looks like another version of a low fat diet. A more realistic paleo diet (which Cordain's version is not) would include more fat and no need for snacks. I used to need 5-6 meals per day. It was a real pain in the arse to keep eating so often. Now I just need 3 meals on a day off work and 3-4 when Im doing hard physical work. I never feel like I need snacks now. It's not self control or anything like that. I just don't get hungry that often anymore.

I just eat when I am hungry, not really sure why I should be aiming for three meals a day. On the three days I do MMA I will also add food before and after. All I know is; I have enough energy to train, work and look after my daughter, no episodes of flu since I started, I can make weight more easily and I enjoy it. Each to their own really, it seems to work for me.

And thats the secret. Different things work for different people. Just gotta find what gives you results and stick with it. I'm with ya, brother.

My GF is struggling atm, even taking her on a 3 mile walk with some sort of minimal speed is hardwork, dont get me started on the running or sprinting  then she tells me shes got pop tarts for dinner....:spank:

One big rule of getting fit and wanting to lose weight.....PUT THE BLOODY EFFORT IN

Rant over :D

You can still be healthy/lose weight and eat normally. My mate lost a hell of a lot of weight by cutting out junk food and seriously loading up on fruit and veg. No need to drop good carbs or not eat egg yolks. What you want is a healthy eating plan for life, not a faddish diet. Do some googling on food satiety.

What is eating normally though? To a lot of people eating normally is an endless stream of burgers and chips. I agree that you don't need an extreme diet to be healthy and maintain a healthy weight, just a bit of balance and thought. I eat what I do as I push my body and it seems to help.

I don't think Fiefighter was telling others to drop egg yolks. I just don't think he personally wanted to eat 42 yolks a week!
