it's really a sign of the times. produce a product that's consumed daily by the normal folk? naah, let's produce high end meat instead which will only be bought by the rich.

that is really a vergüenza.
So easy to criticize what somebody else does with his money...

you obviously have to defend your boss here and I'm almost certain your stance would be different if you weren't working for them.

but yes, it sure is easy to criticize what other people do. I've often said I don't agree the direction the island is taking and this right here is exactly one of those examples. you're not actually providing more work there (not a lot at least), but simply maximize profits with that change.

and just so we're clear, I would react the very same way if that dairy-cum-slaughterhouse was owned by anyone else. it's really a shame it's gone, period.

Mmmmmmmm..... Interesting.. Milk or meat, to see some cows on an island without grass is something strange for me..

eldiablo - point taken. one thing is business, another thing is personal views

His. His money, his land, his properties.. where did it all come from in the first place? That's a genuine question. I doubt they worked their fingers to the bone for it,and junior certainly didn't.

But as @stivi has pointed out,its not about their wealth,it's more about the direction they are taking the island. And the jobs they supply are shit,it's an employers market there and they hold all the cards, and have very little compatition,if any at all? They dictate the terms.

you see those people following a very similar path
many people isn't happy with that path and its consequences.

you pointed your accusing finger to greedy ibicencos (quite ironic coming from somone who works for don abel!) as the cause of the ridiculous price of accommodation... you're intelligent enough to know that path, which you defended in this forum many times, isn't compatible with paying 50.000pts/300e per month for a flat like in the past.

the sooner you accept the fact that path not only has pros but also plenty of cons, the better. expecting that the almost prohibitive cost of renting a flat will go down any decade soon would be silly at this point... it won't happen with this model implemented on the island by people whose only interest in most cases is to just continue milking the cash cow ad infinitum.

I will answer you in spanish because unfortunately my english is not good enough :)

This man, Don Abel, with more than 70 years old, works every day from 8 in the morning until 8 at night (I see it with my own eyes). Spain would be a much better country if the people would have just a tenth of his work ethic.

Regarding his jobs being shit, just to let you know that we the company has not one but MANY employees that have been working for him more than 40 years. He provides the very few all year round jobs and obviously nobody is happy with his salary but I will just say that it allows me to comfortable pay my home, food for my family, holidays and everything we might need.

Maybe he does, but many of his employees will be working the same hours, and they will be struggling to pay their rent. How was he able to obtain the land and properties in the first place. I can hazard a guess, it wasn't from cleaning swimming pools?

Probably not that many though hey? Similar jobs Starbucks.

He provides the very few all year round jobs

Who,wants to work all year round when you used to be able to work 12hrs a day for 6mths and have the rest of the year off. Oh yeah, those days are over because of the greedy working class ibicencos..

nobody is happy with his salary but I will just say that it allows me to comfortable pay my home, food for my family, holidays and everything we might need

I'm alright jack!

400 euros for a bed in a flat with eleven room mates... (4.800 per month

Are there any camp sites near San an these days? Some workers used to,stay on one a short walk from the egg. Heading out on the Ibiza highway on the right hand side. Has that gone now?
