Ibiza, where is your essence?

this is what the group PROU has to say about it:

that's not the way. we have to protect the authentic tourism (familiar, respectful) and get rid of the one it's not (mega-rich, drunken, drugged) with a change of model, and enforcing the laws.

and to illustrate that comment, a pic taken this morning at 11:30am in san an that is adding more fuel to the fire on social media...

It's a tough situation. Prices are sky high and poor value for hotel accommodation already - restricting the supply and banning Air B&B will surely only drive remaining accommodation prices even higher initially as there will be a huge excess demand. Since most accommodation in Ibiza is already poor value for money it really begs the question how long that is sustainable. The big risk is that more and more accommodation will simply convert to AI to shield the value equation and maximise 'take'. If the tertiary supply of alternative accommodation falls away, Ibiza will be left with the very worst of all worlds - a bunch of guests holed up in resorts contributing next to nothing to the island as a whole.

 ... there's always one ! If they're after the best quality tourists they have to compete with Menorca for one - Ibiza already struggles to really convince much of that sector it has as much if not more to offer ;)

Hes got a right saggy ballbag that lad

I saw some guys in union jack shorts mooning on the waterslide outside the zodiac apartamentos in san an bay in 1987. I still remember my (british) dad trying (and struggling) to explain this strange social anthropological phenomenon to the perplexed spanish family we were staying with

The Scots are particularly fond of it, especially on moving vehicles - that's likely where the expression "bums oot the windee" comes fae

This happening in Barcelona, San Sebastián and countless other Spanish places.

A shame a we are all part of the problem, everybody wants to go to some touristy place or another, everybody wants some action and memories to take home.

Prices rise with tourism and interest and the locals are the ones who get upset.

Yes there are those who benefit and plenty who can't afford the increases and have to move out.

Such a shame. I am against the big boys and will never visit Hi ibiza.
