Ibiza too expensive

flights and hotel prices seem to be much higher this year for some reason

Give us an example? My mate just booked a £34 return flight to brum from Ibiza in june ffs I cant get to london for that from Nottingham let alone Ibiza :D Bit of graft and it can be done very cheap leaving plenty of wonga for Ibiza price beer. If it is too expensive go and mix it with the scum on the mainland :p

I got an All Inclusive, 10 night holiday at Hotel Hawaii (rated 3rd out of 100+ hotels in San An) for £560 each.....got 5 of us going on it June 10th-20th....granted high season is alot more expensive but I still that is a bloody good deal for where it is and what you get!

The really pain money wise is the spending side of things, I go by the rule of £100 a day to accomodate for taxis and club fees.

...My mate just booked a £34 return flight ...
my friend´s friend has a friend and this friend´s friend knows a bloke whose friend
had heard that another friend´s grandmother has booked a 1 euro return flight ...

my god, prices like 34 or whatever are for most people and for most airports
a very very rare exemption these days ... useless to mention this here

Not really though, loads of bargain flights to be had if folk can be bothered to actually look and are flexible with their times. He is flying back last morning at 3am :D I would rather pay £70 and come back at lunch time but thats my choice. His choice is pay less and be inconvenienced for one day. Skyscanner has in my experience been the best place for cheap flights wherever I go so just in case anyone read your post and took it seriously....you're wrong :p

Interesting that this post shoild be resurected. Ive just had a price for Es Vive as below emailed to me. Its far too expensive-

OR

I think it boils down to what you want from Ibiza though. I don't have the money that can fund the comfort that a lot of folk go for. I go for the music and the vibe and the bed comes as an after thought "as long as I am there". W managed to book a villa for 10 days in June between 4 at £1500 so £150 a day between 4 of us not so different to a low end hotel/hostel it works out around £400 each for the 10 days. Flights at the minute are £184 return from east mids so less then £600 for 10 days in private peaceful surroundings with an amazing view of the sun setting every night 8) It isnt the best villa by any stretch of the imagination but it has everything we want/need and stayed here before. I have stayed in the bay and piscis park in san an and paid more per week for the privilege although that was in August. Flights can be done cheaper if more flexible with times flying and overall it will leave more money for the expensive clubs. If I wanted cheap beer and louts playing come on irene surrounded by some of the UK's finest nob heads I'd take my over all cost and go there but I wouldnt get the same experience. And overall probably spend just as much. Plenty of early booking prices at £200 a week inclusive of flights and hotel and I for one has spent more then that on one night out in Nottingham so I am very happy at the price I can pay with a bit of leg work.
If you want the top end then as with everything in life, you pay top end prices. Kimjay does his trips on a good budget to without having to dip into the low end market of hotels it's all about hunting for the bargain :)

UK has some very cheap deals actually. If you change in Madrid/Barcelona on the way for example, could have got seats for about £50 all in from London in the Easyjet sale which ended recently, using Ryanair onward flights for about 12Euros return (then). Last year I managed to get Ryanair tickets from East Midlands direct for about £44 return booking a month ahead. Shame I couldn't use them !!

Quite often prices plummet last-minute on Thomson & Thomas Cook too if their planes are not full with package-dealers 8). But you have to be able to travel at short notice. It's not that unusual actually. But obviously not in peak season.

from glasgow, flights are dearer than they were last year (easyjet & ryanair) up til now. hoping they drop a little. browse the flights and hotels every year checking every couple of days or so and have noticed the difference this year

That place is no way worth those prices. From who I saw there last year (unseen Spotlight regulars excepted of course ), it'll likely be full of people flying out on the new route from London Southend and living in that airport's catchment ... As we all know there are plenty of San An-hating bottle-blonde, fake-tanned posers from a certain county east of the City and its environs who'll still shell out that sort of cash for a small box of a room ... I'll bet some of them got conned out of £100 for their Hot Natured NYE tickets too ... could it be time to seek out a different hotel anyway and leave them all to it :?:

Interestingly Southend (horribly inaccessible to anyone living West of London) is the only regular London flight in Summer at sensible hours this year (bar City).. other than the charter carriers catering for 7 or 14 night family holidays with (currently) astronomic advance flight-only fares. All the 6-7am flights have been axed. Which means out-of-hours car hire add-ons, extra nights / taxis, and so it goes on for quick trips.. It's not looking good for affordable short-breaks from the South in 2012 :!:

Saw this on my last visit. A lot of peeps I spoke to thought it quite strange that a northerner was staying there. They had all only paid £1.99 for their flights like usual.

In comparison, for my second trip with the family in August, I am paying £600 at the Palladium Palace for 8 nights AI (as oppose to more or less the same price at Es Vive for 4 nights B&B)

jeez , did someone get out the wrong side of the bed that day? :D

I've noticed there does seem to be less flights in general this year, and those that are are so much more expensive. :\

After Muscat, Oman, Ibiza is the city where most have increased the prices of hotel rooms in 2011

Ibiza last year recorded one of its largest hotel occupations

PALMA | IRIN Ibiza, with 19%, is the world's second largest city after Muscat in Oman, with more price increases in 2011, according to data from the Hotel Price Index (HPI) of Hoteles.com, who has emphasized that, while the rest of Spain, prices remain "stable" Balearic "presents rises in all its locations."

In this sense, the Internet portal has put the average price per night 83 euros in Spain, compared to 108 euros from Ibiza or, say, 97 euros on average it costs to rent a room in Palma de Mallorca, during 2011, suffered an increase in this aspect of 11% over the previous year.

Also, although some places like Alcudia recorded moderate decreases about 4% compared to 2010, other municipalities as Calvià "have followed the path of rising prices of the community reaching 9% more" than in 2010.

Hoteles.com has analyzed this rate increase is translated "in a remarkable upturn in the hotel industry of the islands again recorded its highest occupancy last summer" and, on this occasion, "the revolt of the so-called Spring Arabic also directly influenced the Balearic economy thanks to the diversion of a significant flow of tourists to the islands. I have certainly noticed Jets prices have gone through the roof in the last couple of years. It was always my regular place in ibiza, i can remember it equating to about £20 to £25 per person per night (sharing of course) and then in the last 3 or 4 years it has literally doubled in price.

But if you're willing to compromise on location a little then there still are a few bargains to be had, some apartments are available for about £30 to £35 per person per night.

Are youi saying that Jet's prices have rocketed?:D

I honestly don't know what the fuss is about- Ibiza has always been expensive and the prices in some hotels and all the clubs exploitative especially when the world's economies were in a boom period. They're not going to drop their prices now we're on our uppers especially as their overheads are now much more. For those of us who had to spend 4 or 5 times our weekly wage to play out there in the 90's it actually should really seem kind of in proportion. Yes the upper-end hotels were expensive but so were the clubs we'd have sold our souls to be there.

My advice to you, ladies and gentlemen, is suck it up and get on with it. Far better to shell out those extra shillings than to lose OUR paradise to the muck-lickers of Magaluf or the whiney arse-kissers of the Paris Hilton societies. It hurts like f00k but the alternatives are so, SO much worse

More affluent visitors = higher prices = more affluent visitors = more higher prices

Very happy to hang around expensive hotels some places but not in Ibiza where there is so much to see and do. When I start being asked to shell out 100Euros a night for a 'bag drop', I'll be hiring a rape van !
