Ibiza Rocks @ IBIZA ROCKS HOTEL 2010

LCD Soundsystem Storm Ibiza Rocks!

LCD Soundsystem made it a night to remember with a momentous Ibiza Rocks performance on Tuesday.

Looking ultra-Balearic in his shades and dapper white ensemble, James Murphy and his band mesmerised the Ibiza Rocks Hotel faithful with a hit-packed set and spectacular light show.

Opening their epic set with the pummelling electro anthem 'Us & Them', Murphy and co. went on to unleash an array of classics from their hit arsenal including 'Daft Punk is Playing at My House' and 'All My Friends' alongside new favourites 'Drunk Girls' and 'I Can Change'.

The night built up to a euphoric climax with a powerful reworking of 'New York I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down' which featured an acapella LCD rendition of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' modern pop classic 'New York State Of Mind' and left the capacity crowd baying for more.
It was LCD Soundsystem's second performance at Ibiza Rocks and given James Murphy's recent hints that the band's current incarnation may be going their separate ways, we're certainly hoping the triumphant set won't be their last.

Earlier on, Leeds' prodigal sons The Sunshine Underground warmed up the crowd nicely with a boisterous show that called on material from their two acclaimed albums 'Raise The Alarm' and 'Nobody's Coming To Save You'.

Next week it's the turn of the mighty Florence & The Machine with support from New York's latest excellent indie export The Drums and DJ extraordinaire Kissy Sellout.

Roll on Tuesday...

Florence & The Machine Set To Dazzle Ibiza Rocks

One of the most acclaimed and successful British songstresses of recent times, we're beyond excited to have Florence & The Machine at Ibiza Rocks next Tuesday (August 24th)!

Fresh from a string of headline and high-profile festival appearances this summer, Florence Welch and her Machine are sure to be on scintillating form when they land on the White Isle.

With chart-busting tracks like 'Dogs Days Are Over', 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up') and 'You've Got The Love' in Florence's cannon, it's set to be triumphant night of sing-along anthems and more.

New York's latest fine musical export The Drums will provide ample support on the night and will prove why they're worthy of their considerable wave of hype.

And better still, Ibiza Rocks stalwart Kissy Sellout will be serving up one of his heady electro DJ sets between bands.

To top off the night there is also the weekly After Show party at Es Paradis which is free to get into with your gig ticket - next week's installment features yet another set from Kissy plus Ibiza Rocks residents Colin Peters, Nicola Bear and Grainger.

Ibiza Rocks Throws A Birthday Bash For Florence

It was a birthday to remember for Florence Welch at Ibiza Rocks last night as she performed one the most stunning live shows the White Isle has ever seen.

The night began with Brooklyn's finest The Drums opening proceedings with hit single 'Best Friends' before racing through a set of melodramatic surf-rock at its finest - with the likes of 'Forever and Ever Amen', 'Don't Be a Jerk Johnny' and 'Book of Stories' going down a storm.

They then passed the gauntlet on to Ibiza Rocks stalwart Kissy Sellout who tore up the hotel with a set of eccentric electro sounds and well known party tracks such as Dizzee Rascal's 'Bonkers'.

It was then time for the arrival of Florence & The Machine, and what an entrance it was - Florence sparkling in an amazing blue sequined gown with added white wings and the crowd serenading her with a rendition of 'Happy Birthday'.

The set was opened with fan favourite 'Howl' before the heaving crowd were treated to much of Florence's debut album 'Lungs', including 'Drumming Song', 'Cosmic Love' and 'I'm Not Calling You A Liar'.

Miss Welch then dedicated her anthemic cover of Candi Staton's classic 'You've Got The Love' to her adoring audience who sang along before being treated to a new track called 'Strangeness'.

The set was closed by the epic 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)' only for Florence and her band to re-appear moments later to end the night on a high with the equally glorious 'Dog Days Are Over'.

Luckily for those not in attendance for the whole night was once again filmed by MTV and will broadcast on Friday September 3 at 9pm.

The action once again moved on to the Es Paradis After Show, free to all gig ticket holders, where Kissy Sellout carried on the party into the early hours.

The Specials To Headline The Ibiza Rocks Closing Party!

After a summer long celebration of some of the finest artists, bands and DJ's on the planet, Ibiza Rocks caps off in style with music legends, The Specials, headlining the much anticipated Closing Party at Ibiza Rocks Hotel on 14 September.

True musical pioneers they received the 'Inspiration Award' at Q Awards in 2009 and then the coveted 'Outstanding Contribution to Music' award at NME Awards earlier this year, as well as wowing fresh audiences at Glastonbury, Bestival and Spain's Benecassim over the past 3 summers. Now is the time to treat the hungry, youthful and cosmopolitan crowd on the White Isle to their formidable Punk attitude and energy as they bring Ibiza Rocks 2010 to an unforgettable close.

Formed in 1977, this Coventry-bred band achieved seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles including their famous smash hit 'Ghost Town'. Their unmistakable fusion of danceable ska and rocksteady beats have since influenced a plethora of young chart-topers from Lily Allen to Jamle T, cementing them as true music legends amongst the young Ibiza Rocks generation.

After four scorching hot summer months of incredible, unrivalled and groundbreaking live shows, what better way to build on the Ibiza Rocks legacy and see out 2010 than with The Specials, live and loud under the Balearic stars, to a hungry cosmopolitan audience, in Ibiza's No.1 gig venue – Ibiza Rocks.

Check out this legendary performance of 'Too Much Too Young' from The Specials to see what we can expect on September 14.

Next Up At Ibiza Rocks - Annie Mac, Kele And Delphic

The last Ibiza Rocks gig of August looks set to be a bumper night of all things electro-rock thanks to debut appearances from Annie Mac, Kele and Delphic.

Annie has been a regular during the Radio 1 weekends in San Antonio but this will be her first ever headline set at the hotel.

She'll be ably assisted by Bloc Party frontman turned solo star Kele who released his critically lauded album 'The Boxer' in June.Opening up the night will be Manchester's Delphic who have risen from promising newcomers to become one of the breakout acts of 2010 thanks to tracks such as 'Counterpoint' and 'Halcyon'.

Shane Murray, Ibiza Rocks Promoter said: ‘This has been the best season yet for us with Ibiza Rocks celebrating 5 years and the huge success of the Mallorca Rocks Hotel launch. We're constantly redefining what our live events can be and we're amazed and delighted that The Specials are coming to play our closing party. Our line up this summer is so strong and really feels like a summer long festival – from legends like The Prodigy to Ian Brown, DJ's Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, new stars like Tinie Tempah and The Drums to superstars such as Florence and the Machine and Dizzee Rascal. Big plans ahead for next year too. Here's to a brilliant climax to 2010!'

Ibiza Rocks with Kele, Delphic, Annie Mac, Ewan Pearson and Reverend Soundsystem toni

We're just hours away from yet another legendary night at The Ibiza Rocks Hotel and what a line-up we have in store for you.

Making her Ibiza Rocks debut will be Radio 1 DJ and Queen of all things electro - Annie Mac!

She'll be on the decks as part of a huge triple header alonsgide Bloc Party's Kele, whose debut solo album 'The Boxer' is a big favourite in the Ibiza Rocks office, and the quite frankly amazing Delphic.

We've also just added DJ legend and Delphic producer Ewan Pearson to the bill for an extra special 'Rocks' set.

There are still a handful of tickets left so if you haven't got yours yet, get them now.

And don't forget that gig tickets guarantee free entry to the After Party at Es Paradis where Jon McClure and his Reverend Soundsystem will be joining us for some late night carnage - it's gonna be messy!

Kele And Delphic Are A Knockout At Ibiza Rocks

Far from eyeing up the fast approaching end of summer, Ibiza Rocks barnstormed through another spectacular night on Tuesday with two of the best sets we've seen all year.

Kele, he of Bloc Party fame, has had the critics drooling ever since he announced his solo project and to say he didn't disappoint with his San Antonio debut would be a gross understatement.

Fresh from a string of triumphant festival appearances, the band were on stunning form and pulled no punches as they gave new album The Boxer a full airing to an expectant crowd.

The main man looked increasingly charged-up as the night's Balearic electricity took hold of the entire venue, culminating in a huge set-closing version of 'Flux' that had the crowd in raptures.

Not to be outdone by Kele, Delphic had earlier proved why they are many music fans' band of 2010 with a show that evoked the best that dance and rock have to offer.

Powerful riffs mixed with driving beats to create a series of huge climaxes as songs such as 'Clarion Call' and 'Halcyon' completely justified the huge hype surrounding the Manchester trio.

King of the decks for the night was Delphic producer and DJ legend Ewan Pearson who was on hand to deliver an extra special 'Rocks' set from his seemingly never-ending record collection.

Unfortunately our Queen of the decks, Annie Mac, was unable to attend after being laid low with food poisoning.

It was left to Ibiza Rocks' resident DJ extraordinaire Doorly to wrap things up with another eclectic mix of indie, electro and boundless energy - if you haven't seen this man in action then you're missing out!

It was then onto the After Show at Es Paradis where Reverend Soundsystem were in residence for the second time this summer and up to their usual raucous tricks - the Rev throwing himself into the dancefloor during their performance, to the obvious delight of their fans.

Next week it is the huge D'n'B double header of Pendulum and Sub Focus, who play live in both Mallorca and Ibiza. Get ready to jump!

First up, they'll be hitting Magaluf on Monday for the first closing party at the Mallorca Rocks hotel after a stunning summer in our new home.

Pendulum And Sub Focus Assault The Senses

Pendulum and Sub Focus mixed beats, bass and superb visuals at Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks earlier this week to prove that, even this late in the season, summer 2010 is still alive and kicking.

On Monday night the double-headed D'n'B monster closed our first ever season in Magaluf and what a night it was.

It's been a baptism of fire for our new home, and brimstone was raining down upon the Mallorca Rocks Hotel crowd throughout the event.

Look out for more in 2011 – it's set to get bigger and bigger!

Across the water on Tuesday it was the time Sub Focus' first ever live performance in Ibiza after a series of stunning DJ appearances last year and they didn't disappoint.

The stage was adorned with a huge LED ring that pulsed throughout a sterling set that showed just why Sub Focus are being hailed as the D'n'B masters of the moment.

Not to be outdone, Pendulum upped the ante with an incredible set of visuals on a 5m screen - featuring hearts turning into robots and Pink Floyd inspired animation.

They arrived on stage in boisterous fashion, challenging the crowd – "the more you give, the more we give", prompting both band and fans to spend the night pushing the boundaries of energy and noise to the limit.

After a year spent touring the world in support of 'Immersion' it truly felt like they'd returned to their spiritual home.

Doorly then finished off proceedings, with many hanging on to the very end - saluting the resident at this penultimate show of the summer.

At the After Show, Example was back once more to headline into the small hours while Colin Peters captured the true spirit of the night, mixing The Prodigy into Rage Against the Machine and nearly blowing the Es Paradis roof right off in the process.

Next week, the night of all nights - the Closing Party! And we welcome some true legends to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel - The Specials!

This town, will definitely NOT be a Ghost Town on September 14!

Support on the night comes Camden's latest fine export The King Blues and Ibiza Rocks resident decks maestro Doorly.
