A Specials Night Closes Ibiza Rocks 2010

On a Balearic stage the best of British brought down the curtain on the summer of 2010, and what a final bow it was.

The combination of one of the UK's most groundbreaking acts playing Ibiza's premier live music event always promised to be an incredible occasion - on Tuesday night two titans collided and it was a breathtaking evening for so many reasons.

Hundreds of ska fans from around the world jetted into Ibiza just for this party, mingling with white isle locals and in-the-know holidaymakers to create a truly carnival atmosphere.

Support came from The King Blues, ripping through an opening salvo that sparked with gusto and earnest sentiment.

Songs such as 'I Got Love' and 'Mr Music Man' beguiled the expectant crowd and provided the perfect warm-up to the night's headliners.

As Doorly DJ'd the venue was already a sea of two-tone fashion, and those yet to enter were frantically checking watches, not wanting to miss what was for many the must-see show of 2010.

The Specials took the stage with an energy and personality outstripping countless others that have graced those sunkissed boards.

Nostalgia rubbed shoulders with discovery, with those who were witnessing the band for the first time skanking alongside others who had not seen them for over twenty years.

Playing for well over the standard hour, from 'A Message to You, Rudy' to 'Monkey Man' the band's entire act reverberating with understated cool.

At the finalé, pyrotechnics shot from the roof of the stage, the final clarion call of a quite exceptional season.

The party was stretched until past 6am at the Es Paradis After Show as residents Grainger, Colin Peters and Nicola Bear played an eclectic array of alternative anthems alongside guest DJ Andy Carroll, while upstairs in La Galleria, caps were dothed towards The Specials' influences as Northern Soul reigned supreme with Liam O'Brian & Simon Guirao providing the tunes.

2011 has a lot to live up to, see you there!

Vote For Ibiza Rocks At The UK Festival Awards

After a summer of stunning gigs on the White Isle, Ibiza Rocks has been been nominated for the Best European Festival at this year's UK Festival Awards.

Ibiza Rocks 2010 has been our biggest on best yet, who can forget the 5th Birthday party where The Prodigy literally tore up the hotel or Dizzee's back to back bonkers gigs.

Then there was The Kooks opening up our new home in Mallorca with a little help from Zane Lowe.

And in the last few weeks we've seen Florence Welch serenaded by the biggest Ibiza Rocks crowd ever on her birthday and the The Specials bring the curtain down on it all with a set that will go down in Balearic folklore.

Now we need your help to bag us that prize - all you need to do is head to www.festivalawards.com and vote Ibiza Rocks.

Thanks for your support!
