Ibiza 2022 impressions

it's a subject I think we have discussed to death on here.

I have a friend who could be my dad (age wise) who worked as a tour rep here in the 80s. so he's seen KU open air etc.
when I had my own ibiza climax time (which EVERYONE has, everyone has their few years when they think ibiza was best for them), he already said 'it's not what it used to be' - because his own golden years had been roughly 25-30 years earlier than mine!

the island evolves. we all evolve. nuff said.
THIS!

This may seem like a bit of a rant, but is anyone else getting kind of fed up with the " ibiza isn't what it used to be" comments? I see tons of these particularly on social media (tiktok/instagram being the main offenders) and they seem to be on the increase, it's like some people ( naming no names other than a certain tiktok ibiza club ticket salesman!) want the island to lose it's tourism and charm!

Ultimately the island itself and its beauty will never change, but the club scene is naturally going to evolve over time the same way anything else does. Go back to the 90s and i'm sure the clubs wouldn't be the only thing that is strikingly different to now. YES ticket prices and drinks prices are up significantly on what they used to be but let's be honest Ibiza has never been the cheapest place to get a beer in a club.

Additionally I can't help but think the people that make these comments simply have either only ever been to ibiza once or twice OR only ever go for the clubs and nothing else. As everyone on this forum knows there are incredible restaurants, beaches, hikes and so much more available to us.

YES the government and police are making it harder for certain parties to take place at certain times of the day and that is both a shame and needs to be addressed properly, but to the people saying " Ibiza is dead " - look closer. I was on the island last week and had just as much of a good time as I ever have - even managed to come home with a kidney infection for good measure!

BTW - None of the above is aimed at anyone on this forum, just a general observation from me :)

Keen to get everyones thoughts on this - not sure if this thread is the right place so Admin, feel free to move this elswhere!
Been coming since 95, about 40 timesin total, here now for the third time this year and all that matters to me is I f****g still love every minute I'm here 🕺☀️💊🍹

(odd comedown and trying to chew a Bacon DoubleCheeseburger in departures excepted)

We've all had that battle with the bacon double cheeseburger, i generally win it then regret it about an hour and a half later 38000 ft in the air!

In all my times going to Ibiza the only thing i’ve ever got from the bk im the airport was the bk equivalent of a mcflurry. Something to sooth the throat as anything else is like swallowing razor blades at that point:lol:

I had one this year with full on brownie chunks in it. It was incredible

Noooooooo!!!!!

All the locals i follow are worried that the islands are heading for serious problems (environmental, sustainability) and that's what really matters, not trash parties that come and go. It's inevitable people get nostalgic for a less greedy time.

Was having a mashed chat on this theme with a couple of guys in Pacha tonight. But these are worldwide problems & l'll do my bit where I can (tho it might not be enough).

so, sa trinxa: still there, still the best. usual simple, quality food, great service by girls and guys doing it for years there. music was good, volume the same as every year, for those who wondered, quite enough. Heard Gael today, very trippy and certainly the most underground of sa trinxas residents. Could have used some more vocal tracks for a beach set but was fine. Shes there Tues and Thurs. But God, do I miss jon sa trinxa :/

I believe Ibiza is changing rapidly!!

however I do worry that lockdown has some what driven the local councils to be motivated in changing the islands appeal away from a party island...
Look at the curfews and the recent major drug bust along with the real push on noise complaints in one season

What I would say though is I think a good thing is San Antonio in respect of the hotels are gradually going more upmarket. This attracts a more respectful crowd. Coupled with the west end curfews at 3am is a great idea. Those in San Antonio previous to lockdown would be out drinking past 3am on the streets only to end up vomiting and p1$$ing everywhere, dropping liter and no doubt getting into some sort of trouble.

I dont know why to have worries about Ibiza. You can party every night in the season. Day parties are a little less , but its possible. And the season is longer than ever. The older know what I mean : Ibiza was 3 months clubbing , not more.
Think what would happen , if they did nothing against the problems.
Its bigger than ever
