Ibiza 2022 impressions

and August. total no-no. I get that for a lot of people conditioned by work, school, kids etc, it's less easy to go in Sept though
Do you mean personally because of work/family, as otherwise Ibiza is just as easy to get to and everywhere's still open, + the closing parties? The one downside (or upside if you like this sort of thing) is the thunderstorm season starts - and ends - in September, with it being so darned hot (especially the sea) they should be spectacular this season. I expect severe floods though.
I'm giving early Sept a miss this year, mainly due tot he chaotic airports and risk of strikes, but will be there in October. September next year....

I always feel a bit conflicted on this. My inner raver/hippy says - let the whole world in. One Love. U.N.I.T.Y Peace in the Valley etc. whereas my sniffy inner London clubber says, put the barricades up, protect this sacred space, save Acid House from Tech House. It's a perpetual fcken tightrope..

If you dont care about the entrance , your club will die. You have to sort out the aggressive and drunken persons.

I payed 4,25€ per day juste before Covid for a Ford Focus 🤣 , well it was in January but still ! This summer I stayed the full month of July and couldn’t find a car for less than 2k ( the cheapest one ) so I took the ferry with my own car … it’s not a ibiza problem , in all Europe renting a car are way more expensive since covid started…( they sold 80% of there float at the beginning because they didn't know how long it was going to last and left almost new cars in a garage it's a big waste of money )

Talking about going in July , it was ok , I don’t go in ibiza in august for more than 10 years now ! For me , the best month is September by far .

Lets talk about what elitism is in this case ...

personally I think Berghain have it spot on. they have a vibe they want to preserve and they do it very well. whereas Ibiza elitism is generally based on platinum VIP cards or who you know with a villa and it does that very well too. the eternal question is whether the 2 can genuinely co-exist on a small island. At the root of it all is this mad contradiction in the human psyche. we want to instawank about cool parties but we don't want anyone else to know about them.

Berghain comes from the punk side. Ibiza is often a money / status thing. In Berghain they dont want to have rich kids

This way of thinking in Berlin is absolutely my preference. It can lead to being cheesed off if you dont get into Berghain/Watergate/Kit Kat, but there is so much choice out there that if you dont succeed with one, plenty more to try

It's a funny and incredible fact that I've never had to turn away from a club door in Berlin or anywhere else in the world. Especially in Berlin, I'm always prepared for this because it's so common there. Once, ten years ago, one Sunday morning around nine o'clock, in Katterblau, the ticket seller heard me speak Finnish and I had to tell if I knew what music they were playing. Of course I could tell, but it was more about how I behaved. This kind of door policy suits me well. In this case, I know that the club has like-minded partygoers and it should be a safe environment anyway. In Ibiza, this is not entirely possible because they live with seasonal thinking, but I like Pikes' way of doing this thing. The same method would also suit, for example, Cova Santa and Blue Marlin.
