Ibiza 2022 impressions

Will post my review later but imo Ibiza is back with a bang.

One of the best tbh

Didn’t plan to be back until next year but booked again for 6 weeks time 🙌🏻

Was only at Pikes (day and night) didn’t feel the need to go to any other clubs.

only thing I would love to see is for gigs to happen again - i don’t really count the ones at Hard Rock.

Some of the best gigs i’ve been to were in ibiza - beady eye, libertines, mondays/ rev and the makers.

Can’t remember why the gigs stopped, was it due to noise or demand?

if noise,Privilege would have been an ideal location for gigs again.

Wasn't it just down to Ibiza Rocks change in direction?

I saw Nile Rodgers at rocks and I absolutely loved it.

Privilege would be ideal for many, many things, but never is..

Ibiza Rocks specifically determined it was no longer economically viable to transport bands, all their equipments and support staff for gigs.

There's still a healthy local Spanish rock scene, which arguably has room for growth. Santos and Es Birra do regular things if I'm not mistaken. Plus there's several large scale concerts. @McRackin is the man in the know

you sure?

I saw that #1 Spanish superstar Rosalía played Mallorca recently to a huge crowd. Is the infrastructure different there? I can't help thinking that Priv with an in-house rig/system would work very well for travelling performerd except perhaps for those stars who transport all their own production in massive trucks?

My opinion : Ibiza or majorca ( a island ) is not a live venue island. Its better on the spanish mainland. Because its easier for huge crowds to travel.
It works for some events in the main season. Privilege is dead , I think. Too expensive to refurb it.

Was talking to an older woman the other day in England. Not a visitor to Ibiza but regularly visits to Spain pre-pandemic.

Said her and many people she knew had turned their backs on Spain due to its covid rules - was a bit surprised. We've tried our best to travel as normal, to a variety of countries, including Spain a number of times.

A lot of people believe in Britain believe a lot of over exaggerated things about restrictions. Lot of Brits acting the victim post covid and post Brexit

Maybe less Brits is the catalyst for the increase in domestic travel

Influencers' villas getting robbed. I ought to feel more sympathetic I guess..

these are influences who upload lots of pictures of their villa as soon as they arrive, and then subsequently provide live updates of their activities after they leave the villa. Almost like they haven't thought that one through very well...
