Ibiza 2022 impressions

Yea. So I’ve stayed at sal rossa for many years…it nice enough (I used to stay there because it was next to Space back in the day).. This O’Beach hotel San an is great, in San Antonio but really good. Much cheaper I’ve found. I really shouldn’t have been so negative to stay San An in the past….I think it’s really good. The bars on the bay etc are really good…it’s completely changed from when I stayed here 15 odd years ago.
Loooooove the Sal Rossa, one of the few none plastic hotels left there

Quick one…..so I’ve been at O Beach hotel for past 6 days overlooking O’beach…getting free pre-clubbing from my balcony
(Although I did go one day - that’s for later). All I can say, despite the days/ organised, the tunes/music are more ore less the same every day (I’m not criticising but just making a comment)….i think they must make an absolute fortune (even more than clubs)… people drinking from 2 (versus clubbers just having water at night etc).
Stayed there on my first marriage stag do and the year it opened (2001). Some Ministry of Sound partnership if I recall, bedlam for a week

Great stag, shit marriage

Yes…I’d say so. I went to acta and ibiza rocks… ibiza rocks bar is really good value in my opinion and the staff are great, chicken pitta is superb (I think it’s about 10 euros with a pint - not sure)
(been here before I think?)
Yes, geographically Itaca, et al, are in the bay of SA, but it's not what most regard as SAB. Regular visitors would consider Es Pouet the beach after Hotel Hawaii to be the start of what they call San Antonio Bay, then all the way to Port d'es Torrent....pedantic, I know!

For me it's the junction at Casitas/Sa Flama where the one-way road to Cala de Bou starts

Anything before that might as well be San Antonio itself (imo)

Yea fair enough…but if you go left from o beach hotel there are some decent bars - which are actually reasonably priced

Ahhh, i class those places as San An, been many times. I was on about much further round, as in where you would go on taxi boat.

This years August tattoos, mosquito bites 😂

Usually happens to me in September/October.
Easily resolved though with tea tree and cream
Yes, that's the one part of an autumn holiday I dread! If summer's been longer and hotter than usual the wee things will be desperate for blood...

What do locals think is the best repellant and where can it be bought?

Mercadona's repellent (orange bottle) works for me. Don't get it in your face though. Gross smell

Here in northern Europe and Lapland there are really a lot of mosquitoes, especially in late summer and autumn! We use a repellent called OFF!, which is really effective and odorless! I don't think you can get this from Ibiza, so here's a good business idea for the end of the season! 😉

Is this the same orange bottle?

I get bitten really badly whatever time of year I go, but I wore one of these in July and didn’t get bitten once - THEYE Mosquito Repellent Band - Adjustable White https://amzn.eu/d/5C3QjHC.

I’ll try it again next month!

Take B vitamins (specifically with B1 in) a week before and during your holiday then they shouldn't bite you. Learnt this in Thailand as I suffer badly when I get bitten... If you do get a bite steroid based cream is best!

Problem with buying stuff in advance is - as I'm taking carry-on bags only - the 100ml/1L limit, and I've other stuff that takes priority, so one option would be to buy whatever Boots offers airside (Manchester airport). Maybe order in advance and collect??

I'm going to Formentera straight after landing so little chance to visit Ibiza's bigger stores. Would a pharmacy in Es Pujols simply rip me off, buy selling me a bottle of crap for zillions, or would that be a good place to go?

Edit, just checked and Boots has a few sprays, so might buy a couple airside and use one on my arms and one on my legs and play join the dots and see which works best.

Skin so soft from Avon has been my go to for over 10 years. Its not a repellant but it works (i think it has a lot of deet? In it, which repellents use).

Cheap, smells nice and makes your skin look and feel good. Cant go wrong 😉
