How to get ripped for Ibiza July/Sept 2017?

Glycine is also good for connective tissue and the like. Most people don't get enough in diet as it comes mostly from gristly meat.

Also helps sleep if taken before bed. :D

Take a cod liver oil + glucosamine supplement - Sainsburys and Tescos do them - sorts out your knees - I had the same prob. All good now.
Yes a good fish oil+ glucosamine and chia oil capsules every day for my knackered old knee from my skateboarding days.I can stil pop a mean ollie at 45..:)

@diver

What sort of workouts are you doing mate?? I train 5 times a week a bit like yourself. Im asking because recently i read a good way of boosting your testosterone levels and shifting a bit of body fat is to concentrate on performing compound exercises.. Deadlifts and squats amongst the best. They are great exercises to do regardless. As everyone as already said diet is key but always have yourself a cheat day, your body needs to know how to break foods down still. You can't out train a bad diet so they say.

Just keep your top on when your on the dancefloor..;);)

Okay,
In short, I am a Yo Yo dieter. Im an all or nothing type of guy. Im not saying that I have been 28 stone, gone down to 10 then back up to 30st. I just tend to lose a lot up to my hols then out it all back on again. I never lose enough to see my abs but can really lose a lot of weight from elsewhere.
At the moment I am about 13st3 or so, but I have been as low as 11st3 one year. I know peoples weight can fluctuate but its a real real effort to lose it again, I mean it takes over my life planning meals etc.... tbh its quite difficult juggling my shifts, family stuff too. I have tried lots of workouts and diets over the years
At the moment I just got back to the gym about a month ago and I have started to see a difference in size already (muscle memory?) I had a break of about 4/5months as I got so pissed off with it.
I do 5 times a week with a workout focused on each boy part each day (Back, Sh, legs, arms, chest) and I do 10mins of HIIT when I feel like it.
I also attend 1 or 2 circuits a week.
My issue is, Im just so tired all the time.

Sounds like you need an injection of enthusiasm. Im 46 this year and it gets harder as you get older. This may sound silly but a change of gym and even some new gym gear can give you a little nudge. Also i wouldn't worry about the physique's you see in Ibiza of all places. Yes there are some genetically gifted people out there but a most are on the juice. Its the way gyms are nowadays. Train hard eat well and be happy with the outcome. Not worth stressing about mate.

Was an interesting BBC documentary series on dieting etc a whole ago. Certain foods promote certain gut bacteria, which in turn release chemicals that trigger hunger. Thus eating more food that promotes that gut bacteria.

Changing diet and sticking to it, did seem over time change what gut bacteria someone had, and thus less of the hunger chemicals.

Easier said than done, I've had to give up certain foods and know how hard that can be :(

Omg we should have spotlight transformations with before and after pics... Haven't yous heard dad bods are in!

Seriously though lof and Tiffanyb are talking sense, 30g of carbs a day is stupid. Don't get bogged down with complex diets, start simple, calories in < calories out. You could eat 2000calories of Mars bars a day and still lose when if your output is 2200calories (I'm not saying do this)

My best tip is download the app myfitness pal, you can set how many calories you want to consume, then it will track and calculate all the calories and macros youv eaten for the day, week, month... It's fairly accurate and after a few days it's very easy to use.

People that have met off this forum will know im on the cuddly side than skinny. Ive been thinner and ive been bigger. I would maintain as i said before , losing a bunch of weight can be done by all manner of quick hit wonder diets. They all work if you stick to them , for a couple weeks but its not realistic longer term
My biggest annoyance is skinny PT's who havent ever been big telling me how i should deal with not being how i want to look. Like a vegetarian telling you how to cook a good steak lol.

cutting down on dairy made sense to me. The hormones they put into dairy cows to constantly produce milk is bit weird! Plus how many other mammals continue to consume milk?? none!

I suppose this might be the case in some situations - but no one knows everyone's back story. Maybe they might have been bigger in the past..?

Unfortunately all anyone wants these days is a quick fix. 2 months before a holiday people decide they want The body of their lives - and I'm sorry it just ain't gonna happen.

If you want to grow muscle - you need to be in a calorie surplus. And yes, this is going to come with a little bit of fat gain no matter how 'clean' you eat.

If you want to lose fat - you need to be in a defecit.

But above anything else - you need to be consistant! Those tiny things you do each day that don't seem like much will eventually add up and the changes will come. I've just finished a book called 'The Slight Edge' which really drives these thoughts home.

If you're already seeing a change after a month then AMAZING! All you got to do is keep going.

7 sessions a week is quite a lot though - do you have a rest day? This might be part of your tiredness. Also, making sure you're actually eating enough and not drastically undereating will determine your energy levels too!

You obviously know your stuff. My mate has had same comments from few ppl. I Know him personally and i know all he ever needed to do was put on muscle and never lose weight before his career.

His knowledge on a scientific and physio level is really good but he doesnt understand people with addictive behavioue / mental health / real world stuff.
