getting fit for ibiza, how is it done girlies!help needed!

I did a degree in Movement Science too premile
I found it really interesting and it has been really useful to me.
I didn't end up doing that line of work though as the pay isn't so good.

All this healthy advice if all good and well but I like the sound of the Bridget Jones diet myself.

Apparently Renee Zelwegger (spelling?) is on a strict diet to get herself back up to the size of Bridget Jones for the new movie. She has to stuff herself with MacD’s, pizzas, pasta, crisps and chocolate and beer.

Now if only someone would invent a diet like that where you actually LOST weight.

dieting? hmm...

good to cut down on (red) meats, try a chicken or fish salad, with a little olive oil - more of it used in spain...

fresh fruit also helps, and try walking faster to work each day,
so almost out of breath - but dont punish yourself!

this is not just for hols, but all year - good sleep patterns also helps-
getting into siesta mode was easy, with the heat!

and of course, TRY to ease off the alcohol, esp. during the day-
it will sap your energy...

well i partly agree with that diet! carbs tend to make you fat and if you can cut out some - not all - carbs, then youll be on your way.....

but hommus guys, is that bad for you????????

I’m afraid so, I think its quite high in calories. Sorry.

As for the Atkins diet, I don’t see how completely cutting out one food group can be good for you. I can see the logic behind cutting out a few carbs (your diet should only be high in carbs if you exercise enough to work them off) but cutting them out completely is just madness. Any weight you do lose will be from muscle mass and will only be temporary. And it’ll put unnecessary strain on your kidneys as they have a hard time breaking down all that protein into waste.

The only real way to do it (and yes, I know its boring) is to eat a healthy balanced diet and to get regular exercise.

Is it really so bad to eat carbs? I think that Dr. Aitkins diet seems really unhealthy.

Cutting out some carbs is fine and you'll lose weight (bread and stuff like that) but never cut out all carbs cos you can get really really ill on it.

I think I will be investing in one of those ab trainer things which you strap onto your body. Has anyone tried these?

I think Atkins sounds awful and people get side effects from it like headaches, bad breath and lethargy. I couldn't eat loads of meat like that. I really like my bread and pasta and your body needs carbs for energy. Atkins causes your body to burn up fat because it doesn't have the carbs to burn up. However, it doesn't do much for your chlolesterol or kidney function.

Recommended diet: 5 portions veg/fruit, around 5 portions of carbs (e.g. 1 portion = slice bread or bowl cereal), 1-2 foods containing sugar, 2-3 meat/fish or alternatives, 2-3 dairy portions. Seems like alot to me!

yeah i cou8ld easily take away some carbs and still be eating a little once a while during the day to avoid the other side effects..........

Don't give up on carbs - just eat things like brown bread with margarine rather than butter, pasta with tomato based sauce rather than creamy or cheesy sauce, natural cereals (i.e not sugary) etc. Cut down on fatty foods and sugary snacks and keep exercising.
