Donald Trump

Right now Biden wins if he can hold AZ, NV, MI, and WI. All of which he's leading and expected to hold. He will have the bare minimum 270 electoral college votes to do it (Thanks NE for your 1/5 votes!).

Not winning PA will be a surprise tbh, same with flipping AZ. I REALLY hope this holds and we are able to declare a victor this evening.

Wisconsin was called with 20K vote difference. Looks like Biden will pull it out at this point. The weakest link is currently Nevada.

Trump will probably demand a recount and challenge in court, but it would be simply delaying the inevitable if NV/MI hold.

While the man is an ass, there are legitimate policy reasons to support "Trumpism". The fact is most of his voters would vote for him regardless of his stance on unnecessary military adventurism and bad trade.

Sam Harris is someone I disagree with on several fronts, in particular his thoughts on human nature and free will. He is also very willfully ignorant on religion, in my opinion. I often listen to him to uniquely to challenge my own views. However, he is very intelligent, articulate and as anti-trump as they come. In this short he was able to boil down the emotional reasons why half the country voted for Trump, and unfortunately why the culture war will likely continue past this election, and now apparently Trump's presidency.

Don't get my hopes up...

Most states have an automatic vote recount trigger if they are within a certain percentage, not sure if NV is one or not. I may be VERRRRY drunk by 2 pm if this holds up.

?‍♂️

Most people knew the polls were crap, as I mentioned earlier many people that vote for Trump are not fully "Pro-Trump" and didnt want to be labeled by friends, family and coworkers, so they kept quiet. I live in a US jurisdiction that does not vote for President and is left-leaning, and I could see it, even here. Polling companies have a lot to answer for, especially as they made the same polling mistakes in just the last presidential election. Overstating/ misleading polls is a form of propaganda that influences votes in itself.

Its really a coinflip now.... I think we will know who wins this by Friday morning, BTW. No violence (more than normal in USA, anyway), predicted by me. Most of us in the middle are just 'over it' either way. It wasn't a landslide in either direction, so expect more gridlock (best possible outcome, IMHO).
Just to include a bit of balance, Biden has made some awful comments but let’s not that get in the way of bad boy trump.

edit: quote not for yours casa?

I don’t think it matters where you’re from to justify hating someone who is outwardly racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and has caused such catastrophic divide over the last 4 years and will certainly continue to do so for the next 4 if re-elected?

Moving on.....I’ve had seriously sweaty palms all day. I was hoping it wouldn’t be this close but had suspected a surge of support from the quieter Trump supporters. My optimism is up and down like a yo-yo today.....right now I’m cautiously positive but aware that it could all change in a heartbeat!
Sorry last message was a quote to this .

I am not too hot for him either, he has a sketchy past as well.

Personally, I lean Libertarian (1-2% max in elections, woohoo!), but cannot vote for US President because of where I currently live! Was big on Gary Johnson in 2016 and Ron Paul before that. This year was so nasty I didn't even pay any attention to what Jo Jorgenson (or any other 3rd party candidate) had to talk about.

Casa can I ask you a question, if you don’t mind, from a black mans point of view. Do you think trump is a racist? I ask this as I come from a bi racial family and I like to think I am a good person and only judges people by the way they are and not by the colour of there skin, race or religion.
I just don’t get why he gets labelled by this all the time.

depends how you define a racist I guess

That is a question that deserves a better answer than what I can going to provide here, but:

Yes, he used racist tendencies in the US to his political advantage. Is he personally racist? Maybe, maybe not. He probably cares (much) more about himself than his "race".

However, I think most Americans (including minorities and liberals) hold stereotypes of other races and groups. This happens even within races and ethnic groups. People are tribal, and in other places this is expressed as a class/ culture struggle when everyone looks alike. In the US, our caste system is was race-based from the start with elements of economics thrown in. Its not going away anytime soon.

Not all bad, as most people today do give (individual) others a chance, though. Even if they have pre-conceived notions. Even bigots aren't going out of their way to suppress others... most people are lazy and DGAF.

My humble opinion.
