Dance Music: Where are things at?

Dunmore may be on to something. Dance culture has got so ridiculous that a backlash could be on the way. The experience of disco in 1978 and then the superclubs in 2000 offers past evidence of what happens when A. a scene gets saturated and B. vanishes up its arse

Consider also that clubbing now increasingly means nothing to kids who are skint, have no interest in music, have seen all their local clubs shut down and don't do gear nearly as much as their parents did...

Am I allowed to say I totally don’t get the Keinemusik thing ?

I think a time and place. Watch the one they did in Egypt by the pyramids, and the sound kind of works. For me at locations like this, or even a beach in Ibiza it works. Do I want to dance to it in Pacha or DC10 - personally no. But many do.

It is a bit out of control the hype! I do find them hit and miss

Exit set on you tube loved them, the gaza set very predictable

Seen them 5 times and only twice were they great,

The keinemusik fans are horrible and are like sheep, &me started that annoying trend of wearing a hat and head scarf so the crowd go to their set wearing that. They also throw their shirts in the dj booth so they can sign them. The crowd are so self entitled and rude, gen z at its finest!

Is that where the headscarf thing comes from then?
I started noticing guys wearing them on nights out and thought it was a strange trend but if it makes them happy... 😂

It's all about electro-house again, according to The Guardian.

unexpectedly found myself playing a few tunes before Maff from the Egg at a bar here last year through a mutual associate. nice guy. Sounded like they made a lot of dough licensing that track, which was when Guetta was getting big. I remember 2005 was an interesting time for music. a lot of people still cared and hadn't yet retired. by then I was heading in a very different direction, and it was probably the point where I realised Radio 1 is not aimed at 30+ listeners.

Not sure where this lives but seen the insta vid from dj fat tony, with a shinner from being 'attacked' in the dj box at a gig.

Obviously no details on the incident or who was involved. A couple I know who dj together werr playing, a night where the promoter had loads of b2b2b2bs. As they came on, there were loads of people in the dj box, previous djs + them, owner of the pa/sound system came into the box, kicked off worrying about his equipment and laid into my mate. 30 seconds of rolling about, PA dragged away and my friend got up in time to mix the next tune in and continued their set 🫠

just need to avoid parties run by wronguns. In 34 years I only ever saw one 'incident' behind the dex and that was when some twat refused to come off at the prince in brixton. I think 'booth wanker' culture has a lot to answer for too.

whilst on the subject of wankers, a newspaper in Sheffield has run an article on notorious Gatecrasher criminal Simon Raine, one of the most repulsive people ever to be involved in music
