Any new parties next year?

Maceo Plex needs a bigger "brand" or label before he can have a summer long residence imo.

Agreed on that point. His "Dream, Don't Sleep" concept never really took off the ground. And I see his London date over Easter weekend is just being billed as Ellum London.

Bet you stay in Playa Den Bossa as well?

Err no, I just don't think much to a club where people don't get the music or the scene and go there to be seen rather to dance and enjoy the music. It's a posers' paradise. Not house to me at all. To be honest each year I find the clubs and crowds in them get worse each year. Much prefer a good outdoor party like Mobilee or Rumors where the crowd is much more clued up and friendly. No wonder I'm beginning to prefer Berlin to Ibiza for partying.

may I suggest you hit pacha on sunday night this summer, might change your opinion.

I went to Solomun +1 last year. +1 was Heidi who was excellent but there were so many idiots in there I left half way through Solomun's set. A mix of beer boys who go to Pacha because they've heard it's cool and posers who go to Pacha because they've also heard it's cool does not make for a good crowd in my opinion. Seeing the Diynamic boys at Beach house had a much better vibe IMO.

You sound like you stay in Playa Den Bossa, you sure?

I probably agree with most of what you are saying, but wouldn’t necessarily just single out Pacha. If you pick your night, Pacha can still be a great experience. I think the throbbers tend to pick the more commercial nights and this in turn leaves the other nights for the more clued up. Ibiza Rocks House was brilliant last year with a really good crowd.

Sadly, the commercialism of Ibiza has attracted a lot of people who go because they think it is cool. The number of people who stand with their phones on the dance floor, stand chatting to their mates or just shuffle from one foot to the next is annoying. It does effect the vibe of the party (until most of them have left at 5am!)

Unfortunately this happens in most clubs in Ibiza, as well as the commercial nights, those that people now think are popular are starting to be frequented by throbbers. I was at something in Ibiza last year with MK and that was evident. Sad to see Sololum was also like that at Pacha, but no real surprise to be honest.

With all the successful weekly beach parties in pdb, how come no one has made the jump and started one up in San An? I know Richie usually does a one off.

I know it's just rumours at the moment but judging from the most consistent rumours there is just no place for maceo plex at pacha. only possibility is sharing the friday with MK or he is replacing solomun on sundays, but both is unlikely. but then again I can only rely on rumours here.
I'm not a big fan of midcarders doing their own residencies, it splits our scene too much and dilutes the lineups. Can't say I would be too happy about dice, tale of us, innervision and maceo plex starting their own parties. Hope Dubfire and Apollonia are not thinking about this, though they are much bigger than tale of us and plex IMHO.

Innervisions I'd love. Great label of high quality electronic music.

Yup it is sad to see, but not a surprise anymore. There are still some great parties over there, it's just a case of knowing where they are and being prepared to up sticks when lying on the beach to jump in a cab and go there quickly. Also new nights can be good from the POV of not being too busy. Kehakuma at Space a couple of years back was great as it was one of the few Space nights that wasn't absolutely hammered with a good crowd and some incredible music. Is Guy Gerber doing Rumors free parties again this year? Last year was brilliant.

Regardless of the quality of the line up it would be packed with SA bellends straight from Ocean Beach in stilettos and bumbags.

More snobbery from me I'm afraid, but I've no time for dancing with a crowd going oooa oooa and asking why the latest Guetta/Hardwell/Avicii/SHM/Alesso (delete as appropriate) track hasn't been played

Each to their own, but I sometimes see just as many posers at dc-10 as you can find at pacha... of course pacha will always have less of the 'raver type' crowd, but I actually enjoy that pacha has a very varied crowd on most nights (nationality, age, type, gender)

I'm not trying to defend pacha here though, I actually don't go often as the music isn't my bag of tea on most nights. and while I mostly love the music at dc10, I often close my eyes and dream about the crowd it had 10 years ago...

Agreed. Nowhere is really dickhead free anymore. Well, Berlin...

I don't mean to come across as a snob, I just find the wrong mix of people has a huge impact on what could be a great party. I'll party with anyone of any age, race, creed as long as they're friendly, respectful and genuinely enjoying themselves without being so far gone they just dribble on your shoulder on the dancefloor!

Went to Sasha's Never Say Never party at Ushuaia Tower 2 years ago. Was having a great night - met loads of great people including a couple who were 18 year old students and were really sound (I'm 34 BTW). Then the Ushuaia pool party closed (Avicii I think) and loads of meat heads came upstairs to Never Say Never, pissed up and being all aggro on the dancefloor and taking the piss out of people for dancing. Totally ruined what had been a great party. That's what I hate.

Some good posts here! I can block out most dick heads and posers as I'm usually into the music so much! The thing which is really really getting to me at the moment is the phones/filming at more underground parties. No problem with the odd person recording some of a set in the corner of a club.... But half the club holding a phone at the DJ booth to the likes of Richie Hawtin is just wrong! I doubt clubs can enforce it but we have to make it so anti social that basically you get pushed off the dancefloor if you're just stood filming. Richie was spot-on when he pushed that woman off the stage.... He should have done it sooner.

Sorry to bring the place up again, but in Berlin you see no phones. Get your phone out and start filming no matter where you are and you're thrown out. Even Thomas Benedix from Pan-Pot got told off when he got his phone out in Watergate and he was DJing!

ah berlin is great for clubbing, no doubt. cheap prices (food, drinks, club entry), good lineups (especially for 'underground' lovers) and as you pointed out no filming or photos in clubs, which really is nice. we just went at the end of january and had a great time. mano le tough's techno set in berghain on sunday morning was pretty good and delano smith upstairs beforehand even better.

but berlin doesn't have the sun, it doesn't have the sea on your doorstep and while it's true that there are less 'posers' because of the strict door, I always thought that the beautiful people factor also suffers a bit tbh. for a clubbing weekend berlin is perfect, but I get tired of any big city after a few days. Ibiza is a much more touristy destination than berlin and that has obviously its consequences, some of them are good (beautiful people, everyone in a great mood, mix of nationalities etc), some of them are bad (very touristy prices, music for the masses, people taking pics everywhere).

that was totally off-topic now, aren't we discussing the new parties here?

Ha ha - yes we are - final comment - I love both Ibiza and Berlin and as you say there are different positives for each, but Ibiza could possibly learn something from ze Germans in certain areas - but clubbing landscape is totally different.

Anyway - has anyone heard if Diynamic are doing anything this year? Must have got pretty fed up with last years problems.

I've heard HOSH is doinghis boat parties again - last year's was cracking. Just be interested to see whether they try anything outdoors again or go back into a club to make things easier. Knowing my luck it'll be bloody Pacha!! ;)

On the subject of plex or tale of us having there own night im interested to know what jamie jones was upto before he started paradise at dc10? Im new to the scene only really taken a very keen interest in the last 2 years. For me jamie jones has no wow factor as a dj. The likes of plex and tale of us are streets ahead of him likewise appollonia. So how did jamie jones bag himself a successful ngt yet people think plex ect could struggle?
