Why does everyone hate Pacha?

Morbyd, I would like to nominate you as Spotlights most internationally travelled clubber:lol::lol:
Thanks

I think once I figured out that I've partied (or local equivalent thereof ) in 14 time zones. But that still leaves 10 more to go!

But I've got huge gaps in my geography - India, China, SE Asia, Australia, Scandinavia, most of Africa and S America.

I think our DJ friends like Mark Sun and Stu Hirst are probably more traveled clubbers!

On my first trip to Ibiza, I didn't go to Pacha, because I thought it was a store.

Once I learned what it was, I still didn't go, because it's a chain. I just plain don't like chain establishments.

I went to Pacha on my First visit to the island , and have to say the building made you feel very spacial , with all its hidden rooms and terraces, and just the fact thay had bothered to have real candles everywhere , just small things like that. I didn't like the almost anoymous DJing in that you never knew who it was unless you went up and looked, the prices were a bit crazy even then and you got served much faster is you were Spanish (but that is common all over Ibiza).
I think a rift opened up in 2008 when Pete Tong announced he was moving on , there seemed to be some people who took this as some sort of insult and they had a pop at Tonggy and Eden and in some cases anyone else, whilst there were some people who were a bit more open minded and some of those may have reacted by running Pacha down.
Ibiza is unique in that each club offeres something different for different tastes on different nights, if you tried to create a club with the perfect line up for everyone you would fail...as we all like different things, Ibiza gives you that variety.

I love Pacha, wouldn't want to go there every night and they really should get something else than funky house nights on the bill again but it's a great club to visit :D

The Tripadvisor Map in Facebook is handy for counting! I have so far pinned down 123 cities in 40 countries

*laughs*

there's a phrase from dads army that immediately sprang to mind - but as your american it wouldnt translate very well...

I like Pacha, the place, not the prices! Grial is also fun when theres a crowd in and often more tempting to stay there and drop the big club. Like underground, by privilege, but i like anwhere i can go wandering.....

Nowhere beat Teatro Pereyra for a chilled night off clubs.

Morb, any recommendations in Venice?

"...
Pacha Boob

The Pacha group was once again thrust into the headlines after it announced
one of the prizes at a fiesta in its Valencia establishment would be a boob job.

The night, which went under the name, Pretty Woman, had been organised
for the 5th December and offered partygoers the chance to win a total of five prizes,
one of which will be a free breast enlargement.

Ricardo Urgell, the creator of the world renowned night-spot which has spread its wings
across Spain and the world, claimed he could not understand what all the fuss was about.
He confirmed it had been the idea of the Valencia club,
but added he saw nothing wrong with the concept.
He said far worse things went on, and that this was now the norm,
with sex playing a strong part in the promotion of club nights.

However, when asked if the initiative could be brought to the island,
he said he thought it would not work here, although "more vulgar things went on".

Despite claiming they had done nothing wrong,
Pacha Valencia decided to call off the event
due to the massive number of complaints received.

There is no reason to hate Pacha (ibiza) other than the nights they are holding there this year aren't that good. I've been to Pacha twice once in 06 for Sasha and Digweed and in 07 for Steve Lawler. Every time I've been there I've been totally mashed and throwing my usual shapes, also I've never wore designer clothes in there (as legend says you should lol) so just because a club looks pretty doesn't mean you have to look and like a snob :D Everyone on the dancefloor is dancing but there are some people thinking they are cool in VIP but so what? They aren't bothering anyone, I've only ever met sound people in there and always had a great time. I do prefer the smelly dark clubs where you wipe your feet on the way out but Pacha makes a nice change..just a pity no Rennaissance this year

I might be going to the one in Sitges in September [a girl from Barcelona I thought I'd alienated mysteriously got back in touch recently]

*if anyone has any old video footage of the pacha discos when they first opened, that would be really interesting :)

I don't know nowadays, but the place to party in Sitges is (or was) L'Atlantida
http://www.clubatlantida.com/
I don't know anyone who goes to Sitges to end at Pachá (actually I don't know anyone who goes to Pacha in Bcn or anywhere else)

haha, I last went to L'Atlantida in 1996. A really nice open air club, which opened out on to the sea. Didn't know it was still going!

I seem to remember the two big tunes there that summer were lisa marie experience - keep on jumpin' and duke - so in love with you

Pacha is the worst club ive been to in Ibiza in my opinion. I went few years ago to pure pacha, only went because Yousef was headlining, yousef was good but pete tong was awfull, the bar staff were rude, the spanish posers were rude and had no manors barging into people. That along with the fact the drink prices seem to be higher than anywhere else, 25 euros for a double jd and coke 4 years ago! is the reason alot of people hate pacha
