The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Extensive review coming later but as a young member on this forum (22) a few of my friends are into EDM and ended up visiting Hi twice in the week.

I was sceptical about the comments on here about Hi, thinking it cannot be this bad as people reviewed and would suit my age group and needs more than the majority of people on this forum. Especially as I didn't get the chance to visit Space I would have nothing to compare the club against.

I would say after visiting Privilege for Carl Cox, Amnesia and DC10 this club I feel didn't fit the overall atmosphere of Ibiza. The sound system in the place compared to our previous night at Privilege was non-comparable, I doubt I will ever hear a better sound then Cox @ Privi but Hi did seem very average.

We were stood on the right hand side of the club both times with literally the VIP hovering above us, one of my pals said he felt like a 'peasant' with the VIPs looking down on us. That was before one of them dropped their glass on the dance-floor (lucky to not hit anyone) and security were no where to be seen to clear it up. On the other night, a drink which seemed to be vodka was spilt over a group of us by the VIPs above.

Half way through the set everybody around me was fascinated with this mystery celebrity above us (still no clue as to who it was?) instead of enjoying the music, people were taking photos and staring at this mystery fella for a good half an hour.

Looking up at the VIP I see an couple sitting down with a glass of wine feet up, fair enough its that's what you what to do - but this does kill the vibe and being under the influence one of the nights, massively killed my vibe!

I must say the one thing I did like about the club was production and lighting, this was spot on and if this is your thing - the best on the island. If you're going to visit Hi I would suggest not standing on the right or left hand side next to the VIPs, In hindsight I believe if we were in the middle we would not have encountered the issues we did.

I believe visiting Privilege, DC10 and Amnesia offers a much better Ibiza experience, the clubbers seem a lot more 'clued up' in these clubs and a much better party vibe. If you can look past the VIPs it's not awful, but I wouldn't rush to go back there!
Thanks for the review, confirms what a lot of people thought. sounds like you would of really enjoyed space. Hope you had a great holiday

Great review @ComingHome. Welcome to the forum!

As others have said, l think you would have absorbed every inch of the historical Space walls, full of atmosphere, love and the true ibiza spirit. That said, Space was a structure, Ibiza the island will remain until Trumpy pumpy pushes that button. Create your own 'Ibiza spirit' every time you touch down and enjoy that magnetic pull it creates for all of us lucky to enjoy it in life! ✌️ & ❤️

All pictures I have seen of the lighting, in the dark, Prydz and Armin etc look incredible. But all the VIP stories I read about Hi sound like my worst nightmare in a Club

I am tempted to go for Armin on Wednesday but not sure i can risk parting the cash for a potential EDM VIP fest
We liked it and if you're at front /middle you won't notice it much. We was at the back under the VIP so hardly noticed it either.

Also tbh we liked the dj who was on before admin, but for the life of me can't remember who it was

We also got discount entry from one of the ticket sellers. The main cost is the drinks inside :(

Hey guys just come back from a short trip to IBZ (4days for CC Armin and PVD)

I ll just give my impressions about Hi. First of all I had the chance to dance each year in space since 2005 (La Troya, Armin, CC, ...) and i was in a really good mood when going to Hi thanks to Sangria and Sexe on the beach gods !

The club well is just a black bright nice club without any atmosphere during this night, i confirm no vip anymore ... of course we had per person 2 square meters to dance ! Fedde Le Grand was really good and the sound system too ! really BUT there was a f***ing STUPID ASSHOLE crying in his microphone on each beats each drops he definitively ruined and destroyed the mix !!! F.U. we are not in Salou we are in IBZ common we don't need someone to tell us how to enjoy a party (except if it's Green Velvet singing LALALALA lol) ! Me and my friends same conclusion => we decided to move to the Theater

The theater when Armin was in charge to be honest the idea to remove the main central bar is a good idea the discoteca is more longer the VIP didn't disturb me the problem is the lowest VIP tables with the left and right bars hooked on impossible to join the front on the discoteca so we stay middle/middle. Yes people were dancing filming but anyway we had a really good time with my virgin buddies (who was completely impressed by the club btw ... apologize "they don't know ...") . To speak a little about the light show : awesome ! but devices : 2 lazers ... WTF !!!! no sorry i see better lazer show in a party that my neighbour organize in our small city in Belgium  i exagerate a little !? (support :
after 1 minute) so perharps ice canon ??? again only 2 which hit the front of the discoteca :( the old Amnesia's ice canon excite me and has still the You ouououou effect (when you remember the 3 kinds of ice canon of space ...)

And finally the major point : sound system well ... very good but that's it nothing more : everybody who has the chance to experiment the SPACE's sound system and atmosphere can remember that the beast made straight the hair on my arms stand on end and the tears were coming literally in the eyes several times per party. And it's the objective to reach ! Here with Hï i had that feeling only once.

So in conclusion Space was is will be always the absolute undefeated star and leave the road open to Privilege, Amnesia, ... and i hope Hï one day but not this year.

A yes after 5am many clubbers were leaving the theater and the club ... was empty

So next week i return to IBZ (27/07 to 02/08) and now i know that I ll go to Clokwork Orange instead of Glitterbox

PS : nobody in the toilet
PS2 : CC WAS AN AMAZING RAVE NIGHT

Just don't think the lineup was strong for armin. I loved Black Coffee and Damian Lazarus a few weeks back especially when they went b2b and Prydz July 11th...musically strong, and good amount of.ppl but do remember club room being dead for Andrea Oliva during Prydz

I can see Hi becoming uncool very quickly. You don't want to be uncool if your club focuses on VIP.[/QUOTE
I think it's going to thrive for as long as edm is popular.

It isn't space and has no intention of trying to be space. From what I am reading, hi has many more punters in over a week than space did. Clearly the newness of the place has something to do with that but it's still attracting them. It's not aimed at space diehards.

As above, Hi isn't aimed for Space diehards in much the same way that Ibiza is no longer aimed for the Space diehards.

Fr the sort of people that Ibiza currently attracts, Hi is perfect.

I don't think Hi has a particular crowd yet as it's so new. I'd reckon it's a mixture of people who usually went to space as go for a look, tourists who'll go regardless who's playing, fans of whatever type of dj is playing on any given night and of course a few fake VIPs .
I'd imagine it will take another season or too before it has its own identity and attracts any specific crowd. This year is very much trial and error I'd think and this is reflected in them already opening up part of the old terrace.

sorry to be frank, but that is a very lame generalization I think
No need to apologise, I welcome my opinion being challenged.

I'll elaborate.

The trend in recent years has been towards VIP, towards 'EDM', towards beach clubs. Doing Ibiza 'on the cheap', whilst still possible, is harder than in previous seasons. Most of the recent developments seem to be "polished", for lack of a better description. They're about image. And there's an awful lot more people who care about their image turning up in Ibiza than in previous seasons, in my opinion.

I'm not saying that Ibiza has 100% gone that way, nor that the island as a whole is just VIP SELFIES EDM LADS ON THE SESH BANTER, just that I think that demographic has massively increased in recent years and Ibiza as a result has catered for it. Hi is an example of that; it's the modern day superclub.

you are pretty on point with that, but what you miss is all the people that come to ibiza and never hit any of the clubs. people always have been, are now, and always will be attracted to ibiza for very different reasons. that´s why it´s so dangerous to generalize. you could say yeah, if we are only talking about the next generation of clubbers, then your statement might be pretty accurate, but as we´ve seen further above with the review of someone young who doesn´t even have the comparison to old space...not everyone likes the shiny glitzy stuff. so again, generalizing is no good.
