The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

*update*

in the club room (what used to be the terraza), the elevated area is currently not used as vip-only access and is now accessible for everyone
They must of realised there's as much money to be made selling €12 bottles of water to clubbers than on the fake VIP crowd .
Long live space terrace :)

I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts on some of the DJ's who had a long association with Space having residencies at Hi, in particular nic fanciulli and steve lawler?

Were people surprised they started residencies a year after Space closed or do people think most DJ's don't see the change of ownership from Space to Hi as a big thing, or its just part of life, or if the monies right they'll play anywhere etc. I got to be honest I was a little surprised Nic Fanciulli has a residency after closing Space with Cox.

I'm not too surprised to be honest. Steve Lawler hadn't been a space resident for a while. And I doubt fancuili had any better offers.
It's just business for them really.

I'm not surprised with Lawler to. I guess if a club is paying the right kind of money. They'll play anywhere.

I suppose from a DJ's point of view, they wouldn't want to burn any bridges with clubs as there could be a point in a DJ's career where the DJ needs the club, more than club needs a DJ.

I guess Fanciulli only had the Space association for the closings didn't he? I can't remember him having many actual residencies in the season, other than probably playing for Carl Cox a few weeks.
If anything his La Familia residency in Ushuaia probably meant he was closer to Ushuaia guys.

I do think you raise an interesting point, I wonder what Nic, Joris, all think of the extra VIP areas in the club. They will obviously never be honest about it in the interviews

I did comment on a Lawler post on Hi on his instagram page recently mentioning the VIP areas. He didn't like it

The announcement Stivi made last night about part of the old terrace which was assigned to VIP, now being opened up to normal clubbers, I wonder if this is a reflection on peoples feedback from the first few weeks of going to the club.

Highly doubt people moaning there is too much VIP is the reason, my guess would be its all about the $$$

I'm guessing it hasn't been that busy so they may as well fit more peasants in who will buy there stupidly overpriced waters and drinks.

I cant imagine they would close a busy and fully booked VIP area making them money just to please people who don't like the VIP culture.

I'd say it's more to do with them not selling it ,

No point it sitting empty ,

When you say Lawler didn't like it, do you mean your comment or the vip area?

Extensive review coming later but as a young member on this forum (22) a few of my friends are into EDM and ended up visiting Hi twice in the week.

I was sceptical about the comments on here about Hi, thinking it cannot be this bad as people reviewed and would suit my age group and needs more than the majority of people on this forum. Especially as I didn't get the chance to visit Space I would have nothing to compare the club against.

I would say after visiting Privilege for Carl Cox, Amnesia and DC10 this club I feel didn't fit the overall atmosphere of Ibiza. The sound system in the place compared to our previous night at Privilege was non-comparable, I doubt I will ever hear a better sound then Cox @ Privi but Hi did seem very average.

We were stood on the right hand side of the club both times with literally the VIP hovering above us, one of my pals said he felt like a 'peasant' with the VIPs looking down on us. That was before one of them dropped their glass on the dance-floor (lucky to not hit anyone) and security were no where to be seen to clear it up. On the other night, a drink which seemed to be vodka was spilt over a group of us by the VIPs above.

Half way through the set everybody around me was fascinated with this mystery celebrity above us (still no clue as to who it was?) instead of enjoying the music, people were taking photos and staring at this mystery fella for a good half an hour.

Looking up at the VIP I see an couple sitting down with a glass of wine feet up, fair enough its that's what you what to do - but this does kill the vibe and being under the influence one of the nights, massively killed my vibe!

I must say the one thing I did like about the club was production and lighting, this was spot on and if this is your thing - the best on the island. If you're going to visit Hi I would suggest not standing on the right or left hand side next to the VIPs, In hindsight I believe if we were in the middle we would not have encountered the issues we did.

I believe visiting Privilege, DC10 and Amnesia offers a much better Ibiza experience, the clubbers seem a lot more 'clued up' in these clubs and a much better party vibe. If you can look past the VIPs it's not awful, but I wouldn't rush to go back there!
