The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

me. while I am almost entirely sure it'll never turn into my fave club and I'm also sure I won't go very often (because of its musical programming), I've let space die in peace. in my case I knew years ago it'll happen and I sort of had my period of grief already in 2015 and 2016 seasons. and to be very honest, something that's been said on here plenty of times ago, space's best days were really when it was still open from 8am onwards. and that's a decade ago now.

as for hï, I know a few things because I spoke to yann personally and if they turn out the way it's thought I have to say there are simply some good ideas around.

Will be at Sonar but the "in the dark opener" certainly has potential to be great. Early in season so not overly crowded unless BS vip mayhem erupts and door is a mess...assuming no problems and at least one or two of those guys bring their A-game, it can be awesome. A proper after party would seal the deal.

I'm a huge Coxy fan, but i can honestly say that i wouldn't go there if he started playing!! Sure, i hate Matutes for what they're turning the island into, but it's much more than that...!!!!

I wouldn't want to put myself in the situation where i was standing in a club with a genuine feeling of sadness, due to my memories of Space!!! Adding that to my detest for Matutes and the hideous "atmosphere" that i've experienced in Ushuaia, you'll find my answer! That's it!

Yes, far too many amazing memories made in that building. I just wanna remember it as it was and I'm not into tech house anyway so there's not much music wise to tempt me into going.

Just happy to have had so many amazing nights there through the years.

Space is in my memory and heart...when I worked in ibiza I had a pass and went all the time...just love that club...best nights of my life there

I can understand that. Some older ones amongst us including me just simply won't go.

Anyone over the age of 35 on the Forum going to go? Hands up.
I am mate. Life is too short. Space is dead. I'm not going to sit mourning it forever. It was brilliant on the most part while it lasted. I feel the same about plenty of other uk and worldwide clubs that are no longer with us. I will always have the memories.

Pepe jumped on the bandwagon as much as any club owner in Ibiza and had plenty of time to prepare an alternative if he had wanted to.

I want to see what hi has to offer and it has as many nights (Saturday and Tuesday) that interest me in a week than space did. It may not be the same as space, it may be better or worse but it's year 0 for hi and I'm looking forward to seeing how they get on with a positive attitude hoping its really good.

I'll check out Hi because I always like to see a new venue and I'm fairly open minded about those things. But I doubt I'll like it since Vegas type clubs bore me and I doubt the crowd will be what I'm looking for.

I must say I've maintained I'd never go to "HI" after they killed off Space. Hate what Ushuaia Group stand for but must say fairly impressed with the lineup. I'd be tempted by one of the Deadmau5/Prydz nights. Thankfully they aren't there when I am this year.

I fear I would stand on the terrace chuntering like an old man (I'm getting there anyway) whining that this is s**t compared to what I remember. I imagine a soulless dancefloor with a sole objective of filming as many youtube clips as possible with the occasional fist pump for authenticity. Ushuaia and HI couldn't be further from the Ibiza I love if they tried. I'm glad clubbing is way down my priorities on the Island, way much more to enjoy there with effort.

Amnesia etc must be annoyed with these only way is Essex "beach club" trend seeing as they had to spend a boat load of money sound proofing venues due to the noise. Granted they shut at 12 but ocean beach club is another example about what I hate of "new Ibiza".

Do you really think Amesia would be pissed off because they have had to sound proof there venue? I'm sure they are well aware their Soundsystem is much much better and more powerful than what any beach club use!

Stop reading my mind.

right...time for an update.

today, a few media outlets (spotlight included) got a chance for a sneak peek into hï. so starting from tomorrow and probably then over/after the weekend, expect a little more info about the club etc to be coming out. before you ask - we weren't allowed to take any pics and it's still very much a building site, but at the same time it's definitely also taking shape.

feel free to come forward with any questions - I might still have to wait a few days, but slowly and steadily the secrets will be lifted now I think and so we'll be able to talk more openly about it.

How much smaller is the terrace now?? What's in the area where the Sunset terrace was??

:)

the terraza - now the club - changes quite a bit in size. the room layout is different now, the DJ is where you used to go over to el salon.

what used to be the sunset terrace turns into an open air space, a place to go and have a drink and have a smoke etc.

Well it sounds like it's worth a visit. How much building work is left you think? Just so can have an idea when actual pictures of the place will start appearing. :)

I have a feeling we'll only see actual pictures after the opening party. renders/mockups might come soon.

Is what used to be the sunset terrace open to us poor people? Or just the VIP?
