The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Must say, some of the negativity being shown about Hi is ludicrous. Some of the comments on spotlight Facebook page have been ridiculous i.e. I'll never forgive them for putting Pepe out of business etc...it's a commercial business for gods sake. Now, it may end up being totally crap or it could be an awesome new adventure for Ibiza. Let's see how it pans out but I reckon people should give it a chance. Let's face it, they are investing serious cash. Life would be boring if things stayed the same.
 
Got to agree with what some others have pointed out, while Garrix is the DJ Mag no1 of the world...surely he isn't popular enough to support two residencies a week, particularly as Ibiza Rocks have moved their massively popular Craig David gig to Thursdays.

the only one on the island who has supported two Residencies is Guetta, who despite the criticism, is undoubtedly a massive name, with years of being a massive name, if you asked any non Dance music fan to name a DJ him or Tiesto would come out top.

I think this will work on Monday's with Guetta's Ushuaia crowd heading across the road for Garrix, but the Thursday one seems an odd choice. But then again it could be limited by Garrix's Vegas and festival commitments?

Maybe yes maybe no, but even being the son of a club owner, probably without visiting Ibiza in 1981 no DJ and without 1988 no Cocoon.

sven never made a secret out of the fact that ibiza inspired him lots and had a huge impact on his career. and of course his residency at amnesia helped (and still helps) him. but I'm with el loco here, I don't think 'amnesia made väth' is accurate. to me it's more like 'ibiza shaped sven'
 
Svan Vath was one of the headline acts at this party in 1993, attended by 25,000 people, so to say he was 'made by Ibiza' is way off the mark. But no doubt having a residency there keeps him relevant (almost) 25 years later

I was referring to the fact his very first visit to the island when he was 16 surely had an impact on him. maybe I wasn't specific enough.

I've not paid attention the last time I went to ushuaïa I have to admit, can you still be tops off there? a lot of the clubs make you wear your t-shirt nowadays if a bouncer sees you dancing without. it's a genuine question.
 
further back in this thread somebody asked whether ushuaïa clients will get free entry to hï.

I've Pm'ed @El_Diablo about it and his reply to this is: no, but they might get discounts or special offers for premium rooms.

please keep in mind this is the current situation and this of course might change.

I still think that if and when EDM dies, the last place it will die is Vegas and Ibiza. Simply because their are X% of people who come on holiday, have no idea what the hell house music genres are and just want to go to a big party with a known name.

I once got asked to put it on at Elrow and that was probably because I walked past 3 bouncers by the VIP area and it was probably frowned upon to walk past their royal quests with such confidence

I couldn't tell you if it was allowed or not but I think it depends on the bouncer likely

Good point! I can only speak for Ants, but people go top-less in the mini-pool at the back and at the Pre 9PM party. In terms of in the main stage 'pit' it is actually always very absent of security staff, so you could if you wanted to. However, it is so busy you are likely to get a cigarette burn so not many would risk it I am guessing

I know right...How dare I walk around with the audacity to have my top removed

Considering I was at Elrow which is full on entertainment and supposed to capture all sorts of imagination of clubbers

Maybe if I was painted Green I would have got away with it
