Teachers

I'd rather we ended the glorification of 'busy'.

I think they do a really important job - even if all their creativity is quashed by 'TRY HARDER' government tactics.

Indeed. If it's such an easy, well paid job compared to your own, then I can only recommend you look at a career transfer.

It's not. There's an institutionalised self-pity which irks me though. And with a child on the way, I'd like to think teachers will be keen to teach him, not be hoping for ANOTHER day off.

I'm all for the glorification of 'effective' myself

The irony of people moaning on the internet during the work day about people having time off isn't lost on you slackers is it? I'm off work today due to the weather btw but I'm not a teacher :D

I'm the dad of 3 children and I have real appreciation of the incredible difference a good.teacher makes to their progress...not just academically. I am always impressed at how teachers build a comprehensive knowledge of the children's personalities, strengths and weaknesses. I have huge admiration for a job I would not want to have the responsibility to do. I have a few friends who are.teachers and I don't recognise that 'i hope the school is.closed' sentiment. I'm sure that is to do.with peoples motivation and vocation. (I sometimes think however that the management of.the school are too risk averse regarding stuff like snow .) Like someone else said there is no.reason why people who think the job is.so.easy or attractive couldn't apply to join.

Complete red herring unless someone is spending hours on the net at work.

No it isn't. And as someone who spends hours on here during "work" you have a cheek whining like a little bitch about people not working hard.

Not on here for much at all, but the crucial point is that I don't spend my time telling people how overworked I am. Teachers do, IME.

have to dissagree , they have only responded to what you have claimed on here. I think this argument is always gona have 2 sides , one of which wont listen to the other side when some of them give a bad representation of a very hard profession. how many 'dodgy' or inneffective labourers / builders do you let go a year cos they are not doing their job properly? you have said it yourself on this forum.

reports of " well ppl on fb were celebrating snow day" doesnt mean a whole profession is wrong. i have about 20 fb friends who are teachers and didnt have 1 status about a snow day myself. you will hurt your ankle when you get off that horse of yourse when your boss says work is cancelled. If your mates do at every oppotunity then they are crap teachers , end of. My dad was a teacher for 30 years and never did he have any spare time to piss about on 'snow days' and neither did he have '6 weeks off at summer' he literally was working most of the time doing what ppl have stated before.

cue wise reply but your are simply ill informed or have bad teachers in your circle of friends..

rant over. think i saw an 'arm ball' the other day by Wanye18uk whilst on a date with Fronty wearing Phat Pants

It seems unlikely that the bulk of my teaching friends, including those who have no connection to each other, are an anomaly?

I would argue all of your friends who are teachers are not doing it properly or not working as hard as 'good' teachers then

Loads, but I don't constantly hear how stressful/hard their job is and they work all year round.

There are exceptions to the norm, I've no doubt

bold claim i know ,
but it annoys e when i had both parents teach and they didnt swan about for 6 weeks in the summer or at easter or ever tbh. they were working all the time. i can tell you that from first hand , life long experience , not a one off fb status etc
