the promenade makes some strange curves (where they will put banks so people can sit)

I was impressed with San Antonio this year. The promenade is a fabulous addition. The whole town seemed much cleaner than during brief visits in previous years. I look forward to exploring more of this area (San An) on our next visit:):)

Have to agree with the comments of those above, although i stayed in figueretas last week (yuk, a big mistake), i visited san An a couple of times and thought the new promenade was a big improvement. What surprised me even more was the additions around calas de moro, all they need to do now there is get that awful tower block next to Kanya painted.

Im back there in 2 weeks so looking forward to frequenting the sunset strip more often,. San An seems a much cleaner place than it used to, although they still need to get the dog crap under control

I found the whole place very grubby, dirty and run down. (including the beach and promenade) The place was littered with dog crap, everywhere smelt like cats litter, loads of tramps/prostitutes etc. but apart from that it was great....not, the whole place just seems very run down. Plus side was that it was close to the town although the walk back late on a night was a bit daunting sometimes. Hotel Nautico Ebeso where i stayed wasnt too bad though.:)

i thought san an was great this year but then again i always think it's great.

my initial concerns about the prom were totally unfounded as it looks great and is a marvellous addition to the area. i don't think mambo et al will be adversely affected, and if anything their business will be improved by the increased footfall.

i think san an's regeneration and innovative approach is an example for other ayuntamientos on the island.

however, i reckon the decision about development of the land at ses variades is the most crucial issue for the town over the next 5 years, as san an could be totally transformed for better or worse.

i must say that the new prom is an extremely positive addition to san an. i think what's needed now is to make the communities in those frontline blocks of flats paint them and tidy them up. this happens in other resorts - benidorm for example - the council could subsidise the painting and coordinate the colour schemes to brighten the place up. it never fails to remind me of beirut and some areas of baghdad at the moment.

Just wondering what the authorities class as "the street"? Will this include the rocks on sunset strip?

I think it's a good idea, I hate seeing people stumbling around with a drink in hand. Have a drink in a bar and go to the next one, there is no need to drink while in transit!:spank:

a great idea to ban it in and around that 1 square mile the westend .
dont you worry its just another controlling measure
something else to add to their long term bid to destoy the bar and clubbing culture on the island
enjoy ibiza while you can

drinking from glass in the street..... BANNED :!:

 http://www.diariodeibiza.es/secciones/noticia.jsp?pNumEjemplar=3124&pIdSeccion=2&pIdNoticia=176125

the new norm will start in a few days. 30€ fine if they catch you breaking the law.....
from the ibiza sun:

Ban on Glass

San Antonio is to ban the consumption of drinks from glass bottles in public areas. Tired of sweeping up broken glasses and bottles from the street and the beach, the Town Hall has decided to act. The legislation will be passed over the next few days and will mean on-the-spot fines of up to 30 euros for those caught breaking the new law. Councillor Jose Ramon Serra Pilot, said that the bar owners and tour operators have been warned of the changes, that will be strictly adhered to.

He also announced a crackdown on noise levels within the centre of town, to try and improve the co-existence between tourists and local residents. He explained that there were already two bars that had had their music equipment sealed by the police for repeated offences.
