Heard about Al Ayoun at the end of last week just before I left (yes, I was there last week, wish I still was!). Just seems like there's an ongoing battle line drawn now, with places being targeted to show no one is above the law.

A real shame.

Amnesia Complaints
Neighbours in the surrounding area to the Amnesia nightclub have written a formal complaint letter to San Antonio Town Hall describing the constant noise levels they have to tolerate, due to illegal parties organised next to the club. Neighbours claim that the youths are evicted from the car park of the club and so congregate on waste ground in the vicinity to get drunk before entering the disco. They play loud music, shout and generally make a nuisance of themselves. Neighbours claim that they have had to fence in their properties for safety reasons. They also report the open buying, selling and consumption of drugs. Finally they claim that the following morning the area is covered in broken bottles and rubbish, which is never cleaned. The Town Hall of San Antonio were quick to respond, and have informed the neighbours affected that there would be far more police controls in the area, with two officers dedicated to the area between 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. in an attempt to stop the illegal gatherings in the area of the super-club.

Bars Closed
The Town Hall of San Antonio announced on Saturday the temporary closure of a restaurant in San Rafael, a bar in the West End and another in the Cala des Moro area for not having the appropriate operating licences. The restaurant in San Rafael had received many complaints from neighbours, as it was also being run as a bar. The Councillor in charge of this area, Josefa Costa said that they would continue to clamp down on those establishments that did not have all their papers in order and that were causing problems for neighbours.

that one havent been closed yet.....

a third venue, in calo des moro, might be closed soon too
..... even if the ibiza sun wrongly says so. they have till tomorrow to bring all the papers the town hall wants :!:

which bar is it? use your imagination..... theres two venues that always caused problems to the neighbours in that area: one of them is now basically a restaurant (not doing pre-parties/etc anymore) and the other one will end up like that too in the near future!!

btw, the ban on glass starts today. interesting articles here:

 s.a. will fine with up to 3,000 euros to the bars that induce people to get drunk
 the controls in sant rafel are guaranteed

they let el ayoun reopen last thursday..... something temporary while the judge decided what to do. one day later they received the confirmation: they have to close and wont be able to open again till they present all the documentation the town hall wants.....

 the court confirms the closing of a restaurant in sant rafel for noises

on a curiuos note, last thursday there was a letter on ultima hora written by martin ferrer, amnesia owner, to explain that he wasnt behind the closing of el ayoun (?)..... something very unusual as i dont remember anything in the press written by him in the last few years. i suppose if he had to write something like that its because there were rumours circulating around saying that it was him who denounced the restaurant. he also took the opportunity to attack the authorities for letting villa parties and other illegal events happen.....

Drinking Clampdown
The Town Hall of San Antonio announced plans on Thursday to crackdown on the drink problem within the town centre. Having forbidden the consumption of alcohol out of glasses on the streets, the Interior Councillor, Jose Ramon Serra, said that he had ordered police to clampdown on the sale of alcohol from supermarkets after midnight, which is, in theory, illegal. It is hoped that this will prevent the consumption of cheap drinks late at night, and mean that those who want to drink will do so in the relatively controlled atmosphere of a licensed bar. He also said that the police would be clamping down on the sale of specially reduced drinks and other offers that do not comply with authorised prices, and encourage the consumption of vast amounts of alcohol in a short space of time. Serra said that the measures were being to taken by the Town Hall to try and clean up the bad image that has been cultivated over the last few years.

Court Backing
The courts in Palma have backed the decision by the Town Hall of San Antonio to shut the restaurant, El Ayoun, in San Rafael. The authorities took the excessive measures after numerous complaints from various neighbours in the area. The establishment had a licence for a restaurant only, but was also working as a bar with the corresponding loud music. The interior Councillor, Jose Ramon Serra, revealed that the restaurant would be able to reopen simply as a restaurant, but would not be allowed to operate as a bar. He said that San Rafael was a quiet town, and that licences for music bars would not be granted.

Is Kanya back open yet? Any update. At the rate things are going this year, I am really worried about the future of Ibiza (the clubbing future anyway):(:(:(:(:(

sad news, although I think the refurb didnt improve the place any, I had some great times in the old Kanya. The garlands parties in 02 were quality , and the old pool set up was great during the day. I love the bit in Morales' "needin you" video were you see the three girls dancing at the edge of the pool with the sunset as a background.

This is a real shame. Since the refurb Kanya had been pretty quiet during the day last year, but I still really enjoy it there.
Those Garlands parties were mad!!

I'm gutted about this Kanya news, some of my best nights were there last year, was hoping to visit again this year.
