San An. .. I like it

Yes as don said lots of residential..it's been my parish for a very long time.i have no interest in clubbling but I find it a great area and have some good friends living and working around there all year round. This year Im staying in cala vadella but will make a frw trips to figueretas. :)

I've always stayed down Figueretas or the area known as Es Vive, like the closeness to Ibiza town and the walking distance to Space. Nice and chilled down on Figueretas promenade for grabbing a bite to eat and some drinks, spending a few hours just chilling.

One thing I did feel regarding Figueretas this year is that some of those apartment buildings on the promenade were looking a bit run down this year, no idea whether they are residential or used for the usual short term holiday lets but they definitely looked more run down compared to other years. That aside you def don't get the hassle of pr's / dealers like in PDB or San An.

I felt it was getting run down even going back a few years to be honest ! Can see the attraction versus PDB in a relative sense, but the one frustrating thing about Figueretas is there's next to no reliable parking if you have a car. So unless you are walking / taking taxis everywhere it's a total disaster of a place to base yourself !

I remember a few trips - 2011-12 - where I was sat at Coolture Bar (sp?) having a few drinks on several occasions. Twice saw parked cars get nicked by a fellow driving attempting to parallel park into a narrow space - two separate instances. In both cases the offending driving took a quick peep at the damage, and then scuttled off nonchalantly.

I came back from dinner in Zakynthos last year and found a note under my windscreen wiper - local shop owner had seen a bus do just that to my hire car and wrote down the Reg. no, time and a witness contact. Was very decent of them, but a little known local law actually put me in the wrong on the parking front by a few feet, so I didn't follow it up - no doubt I'd be the one to get done over at the local nick instead if I'd made a fuss :D. Fortunately when I took the car back the hire company weren't interested and finalized my contract without charges. In 38 degrees, they couldn't even be bothered to go check the car, despite being invited !

Im another one for Figueretas but as kimajy mentioned theres no point staying there if you are hiring a car as parking is a complete bastard (at least in season anyway). End up parking right up the top of Puig des Molins, bit of a trek anytime you want to nip out anywhere!

Ive got it in my head to try Talamanca next time. Never spent anytime round there and i feel its overdue.

Ive never found parking a problem in Figueretas really especially on Carrer de Ramon Muntaner (the part which is closest to Ibiza town outside of the Panoramic/Lux mar apartments). There used to be an area of wasteland at the end of this road for parking cars but now its turned into a pay car park which makes things a little more frustrating

Since they banned cars from parking from the road outside of Es Vive its a little harder to park up but Ive always managed to find a parking spot in peak season, you just have to know where to park rather than head for the obvious parking streets

I don't like to be sleeping more than a block max away from where I left the hire car ... just makes it a complete arse to nip back and forth with stuff. Most of the road in to San An near Marco Polo etc. is the same. I usually wind up in Calo d'es Moro as there's always somewhere just around the corner to park if the hotel spaces are full, and you don't have so much risk of forgetting where you blooming left it after a heavy night out  :spank:.

why is that....just curious?
talamanca:
main problem is the (water) pollution. since years anchoring ships regularly break the sewage-pipeline leading to the open sea in talamanca bay. years ago i was wondering why i almost was the only one in the water because i didn´t look at the red flag.
water often looks nice and clear in the hotel argos/hostal talamanca-area, but in the other corner of the bay especially from hotel playa real and further on their is mouldy smelly crap on the ground of the sea and the air often smells like a sewage-plant.
the whole beach vibe their is quite underwhelming and the view from the water towards the land (pacha-direction) is pure crap with these downtown-condominium-crap-constructions. at least talamanca isn´t as bad as figueretas but nevertheless (probably) won´t stay in that area again ...

figueretas:
nightmare. too close to town. too much cement/buildings/construction.
water quality especially in main season more than questionable.
often no clear water, weird stuff floating under water.
ugly tacky boring beach.many strange people ...
i need a rental car and there is NO fckng parking in main season and even in pre/after-season their is also no parking available. if you find a spot finally chances are high that someone crashed in your car in the night and you have scratches/dents in your car because their is just no fckng space in that area.
to make things worse i can feel almost NO "ibiza-vibe" in that area , more like gran canaria or something like that ...
