I think our future King is definitely punching above his weight.....

Unfortunately, whether you subscribe to the Royal Family or not, he WILL be the King. Whether you choose to recognise it is your own personal choice.

If the office was open I'd be in tomorrow. I'm lucky to be able to work flexible hours and enjoy what I do so a day out is neither here nor there really.
The partners in the business are also great friends of mine - and I'm with them on this.
Days off are great but when they're granted so rich people can wack off in front of us, in times of economic crisis...as a motive to 'cheer up the nation'?

Tricky one though mate, because it IS actually generating a huge amount of income during this 'recession'. The one saving grace the Royal Family have is that they are huge for tourism.
The Americans, Canadians, in fact, most countries on the planet, lap it up.
I am of course ever so slightly biased, as I come from an Army background where it's pretty much blasphemous to speak ill of the Royal Family !

Yeah I hear and respect you on that one.
But fighting for Queen and country isn't part of my story.
I'm doing a big wet fart out of respect for those less fortunate than the royal family.
I don't have anything personal against any of the royals - even Phillip who is a nasty $hitbag is just the product of his 1920s upbringing - the problem is the fact an awful lot of British people don't feel any allegiance to the old order, the old systems, the old class hierarchy. And yet they and their acolytes and sycophants and all the tory wifey types with their fcking porcleain plates, claim to represent the nation when this is so isn't the case. An awful lot of people like myself are not patriots but internationalists and don't fit into their masterplan and they don't like that. They just want to lord it over flagwaving lemmings. In 2011. Jog on.
I hear ya, but is there anything particularly wrong with allowing people a day off to celebrate, perhaps try and restore some national pride, enjoy time with their families and enjoy a beer or ten?! Especially during tough times.

I'm happy for the extra day off. Not so much the other stuff. As a bloke, weddings rank a '0' on my give-a-sh!t-ometer, royal or not. I shall be getting up early for a forage/walk; get to avoid the coverage (not that that's too hard to do anyway) and even less chance of bumping into anyone else in the woods.

haha! I agree with you there - I personally like GOING to weddings, just not the build up and hype!

Yeah, going to weddings is good because you usually get fed and watered well. I'm not really the romantic sort, however, and doubt I'll be getting married myself.
Nationalism isn't something to celebrate. It doesn't resonate at all.
Feel free to have fun on my behalf though - the last thing I want to do is rain on anyone's parade.
