He also strongly emphasised his disappointment in the lack of development and funding for San Antonio, saying in his opinion, Mambo was the only venue worth its mettle in that area of the island, but that “in the 90s, we didn’t want to come to Bossa either, so there is hope.”

Needless to say, his comments pissed off a few San An peeps!

When will people stop hanging on his every word?

He's like 60 and lives in some penthouse in Malibu.

He was a good a&r in the early 90s and his radio show was required listening in the pre-digital era. But he was no rave hero and was always playing catch up.

He is a businessman through and through and hasn't cared about music for decades.

He is also partially responsible for inflicting the sonic abortion known as SHM on the world. We forgive but we don't forget.

*Legendary messageboard though 2004-07 which it is fair to say changed lives

Tong's radio shows were great in the days when we all bought vinyl and listened to him to hear new stuff. These days, I don't even bother listening to him, check out his tracklistings and that's it.

A man who took his Wonderland parties to Eden to try something new and attract other nations to San An like his Pure Pacha nights did, never heard him bad mouth the area back then! Now San An ain't good enough for him but he'll happily go to Mambo, yep that's Tong.

Most of the time I went to his Pure Pacha nights for the guest dj's appearing as i usually lost interest after about half an hour of his set!

... Ps. Some of the latest posts were too insulting and retarded so I deleted them... This is not like facebook where you can get away writing all sorts of nonsense, please think twice before spreading shit!

Sant Antoni hoteliers denounce the "insecurity" of the bay and demanding more civil guards throughout the season.
The town will have 500 new positions 4 stars in 2017

Ni tax sustainable tourism, and land-use planning and programs tacky reality TV, the great workhorse of hoteliers Sant Antoni is coupled to safety, the project of the Government to legalize tourist accommodation in residential buildings, they oppose strongly. "For us, compared to the ecotax tourist apartments is a joke," said resounding last night Juanjo Planells, president of the Hotel Business Association of Sant Antoni and the Bay, which held its annual meeting yesterday. After the meeting, they congratulated associated municipalities and Sant Josep Abad for its decision not to allow the implementation of these properties in their municipalities.

In addition, hoteliers again demanded more police presence in the bay, whose insecurity now considered "the biggest problem". "It makes little sense to make investments to improve tourism 'if monitoring is not increased
, said the president of the association. According Planells, Sant Antoni has only two options: either has between 30 and 40 members of the Civil Guard throughout the season, ie from 1 May to 30 September; or must resort to private security, although, in principle, are not intended to implement this year.

The association also addressed yesterday the future of the town and its tourist reconversion
, they consider essential.
"The current model is the chronicle of a death foretold," admitted Planells, who highlighted the commitment of the hoteliers to move toward a market of higher quality. As an example, Planells cited that 500 new jobs will be four star in 2017 in the town of Sant Antoni.
These squares correspond to a newly created hotel, two have upgraded and apartment.

In addition, the association highlighted the opening of new markets, which already this season is observed, such as Italian, German or French, who have traditionally chosen other destinations on the island for their holidays.

"All together we must change Sant Antoni. Maybe we do not go at the speed we would like, but there are already signs that something begins to change, that there is a growing commitment to improve tourism and attract new markets, quality tourism. Hoteliers are committed one hundred percent with this transformation, "concluded Planells.

That makes a lot more sense then the sensational headlines we had a while back.

Agree, I always thought the original ideas/interpretation were a bit daft. They were never going to ban people drinking/carrying water on the streets etc.
