Plans for a “NEW” San Antonio

Also love San An... after years of back and forth east and west. Just feels more like Ibiza to me than Figueretas or PDB ever did. And as much as id love to stay somewhere muy tranquilo like Cala Boix, that aint gonna cut it when your there with your pals. So out of the three towns with a bit of nightlife, San An always seems to be the best fit for us. Was only across Fig and PDB for convenient access to dc10 and space etc. Not so arsed now. Plenty value to be found in San An still. Easy to park. TONNES of good eating spots. Will see how much it changes this year as back in early Sept. As i dont spend much time in West End anymore i doubt it will affect me much. Will swing by though to check it out.

San An is far from perfect, but anyone claiming PDB has better food options is at it.

Even with a young family San An isn't my first choice, but with all the ongoing hotels renovations that may change in future years.

New law just passed. San Antonio nightlife shuts down at 3am. Will this law have a serious negative impact on San Antonio, or will the change be positive?

it´s not the whole nightlife in san an that will change. the west end bars are the ones affected. neither eden nor es paradis will be affected negatively by that, quite the opposite.

personally I don´t think the chosen approach is the solution to the problem though.

It all depends on how one defines the "problem", and "problem" to whom......

I do agree, this should be welcome boon for the two San Antonio clubs.

Ball is really in Eden's and - moreso in my opinion - Es Paradis' court.
They need to be savvy with their pricing. Get too greedy and it won't make any difference. Whether the West End was open to 6am or not, either you make a choice for a budget night. Or something more extravagant.
I can't see flocks of kids heading to Es Paradis' doors at 3am if they still want €20+ admission for a few hours dancing. But I guess we will see.

I've stayed in San Antonio so often that I've grown accustom to the same old pickpockets, drug dealers, prostitutes, and lucky charm ladies. Nothing ever seems to change in that aspect. I instinctively know which areas to avoid, but they still pop up in new places. The guy who pickpocketed me twice now waves to me like a regular customer, and I know the drug dealers and bracelet ladies by their first names! The place really does need to clean up its image at night. That said, San Antonio is still my favourite part of the island. Affordable hotels, plenty of cafes and shops, and a large percentage of people I meet are British. However I feel the place could do with more upbeat venues now and again. Don't want the place to run down like Blackpool and end up the capital for hen parties.

I mean, who the hell does Pablo Valdés think he is? WHAT?! standing up for local ressies? Wanting to call time on 40+ years of excess? the sheer arrogance of the man. hang the heathen.

perhaps if the scruffy fecker paid his traffic fines like the rest of we ressies have to, he might have more credence?

Es Paradis had it's side room open for 5 EUR after the West End closed down until 7:30 which I went to. I had a good time there, drinks were cheap too but I was thinking I was getting access to the main room so it kinda sucked when it was only the side. I can see them getting away with 20 cover if it meant access to the main room..

I only stay in San An. Coming from Canada and doing super extended trips, means San An is the only place I can afford. I'm savvy about the pickpocketers, so I know what to expect. I sorta challenged them to pickpocket me last time by being an open target, and I made them fail. A part of me thinks the gov. hates the West End and lets tourists gets robbed as punishment. 3 AM closing sucks, but TBH a lot of bars were empty with only a few that had a decent number of ppl. I remember a washroom attendent telling me how busy everything used to be and how its just went downhill over time. I only really care about the major clubs on the island anyway so the 6 AM closings for them are what "concern" me more than this.

I disagree about the restos...Casa Thai is my fav in San Antonio and is almost on par with prices here. Flaherty's isn't bad either, how bout Rita's as well for breakfast? Tonnes of great food options. I plan to explore more restos this time around, including that Tex-Mex place. The restos by the fountain suck tho and should be avoided. Maybe that's what ppl are thinking of when they hear about bad restos in San An.

Sorry for rambling like this, my thoughts are all over the place and clearly disorganized. This all definitely sucks for those kids who only come to Ibiza for the West End but I guess it's okay for Es Paradis and Eden.
