Overcrowding

I can't remember when they covered the old terrace, but it died this day for me.
I was there once after, and I never went since.

Think I will give space a miss tomorrow night. Can't imagine being able to enjoy it at all if it's that packed all night.

Edit: Tuesday night

Space for me finished in 1996..ive been there once since and it was $hit..

Just out of interest Craig... Why did it finish for you in '96?!?! I'd understand it if you said it finished for you when the roof went on, but why didn't you like the late 90's/early 00's??

:)

Too much on I suppose..I did enjoy rocking up at 7am and not knowing who was playing or what party was on.I remember one morning everyone was on the terrace around noon and they were trying to get people inside because some dj was playing to an empty room.. for me the only reason I went to space was for the terrace for a few hours in the morning after a night on the tiles...last time I went it reminded me off shopping on Christmas eve just with better music..:)

Craig. Are you a retired clubber? Do you live on the island?
Semi retired I was never a proper clubber,we just went out..:). I don't live on the island, visit every year once or twice not for the clubs. Have been to pikes but nothing to crazy..

@stivi Bit of a long shot but can you ask Space how they intend to control the crowds at the Closing Fiesta? Or just get some response from them regards what I've seen as unacceptable levels of crowds in the club?

It just seems that Cox's night has been getting so busy, that people can't even move an inch - and surely with people complaining and noting on their Facebook page this is happening to dangerous levels, it should require an action/response from the club?

Or is it they genuinely just don't care, which I refuse to believe after all these years?

Fair play. Me and my wife will be taking a huge step back after this year in terms of clubs. I have smashed out Cream, Godskitchen, Passion and recently Gatecrasher in the last year here in the Uk and Ibiza the last 5 years. She is Spanish so I also love the island for many other aspects.

We taking a week to stay at other parts after Space closing. We usually base in San Antonio but staying I 4 different hotels this trip including 3 days in Formentera.

Why should they care? Its the last night.
If something happens its bad joss. They wanted to close anyway.
If nothing happens, maximum earnings.

the penny drops...

Thinking I might go from 10-12 and see what happens tonight.

Anyone know what time marco will be on at (about 1.30?)

already said that in the "space closing" thread - I won't go to the closing of my favourite club in the world, won't have my thousand memories tarnished by being shoved around for hours.
of course it's gonna be just as bad as everyone now fears and even worse than on tuesdays during many hours of the closing. the stories about cox only confirm that space contrary to earlier statements is doing nothing about this crowding.

There's no doubt Carl Cox was busy this week but wouldn't say overcrowded in the main room. We always go in the side door from the terrace and basically across the front of the DJ box to the side near the toilets and there was lots of room there from 1.30-6.30 when we left. Easily got to bar, toilets, even 30mins on the terrace. I was expecting much worse.

You've just got to persevere , same with DC10 on Monday. Lots of people were complaining about the terrace but if you get in and away from the doors there's room down the far end

Was in space this year went outside for a smoke started chatting to this guy who worked there dressed abit different from others so probably higher level got speaking I asked about capacity and he said we're legally aloud 9 thousand but in sometimes they get it "wrong" and on Carl cox nights it hits 12 or 12 and half thousand people lol just said when it hits that amount of numbers all staff are strict on the flow of people going room to room and are strict on people standing next to doors or doorways or stairs etc
