I've not taken offence isle boy, I've given you my view on people, including myself, taking pictures in a club. It's you who got your handbag out and started pouting saying I have no respect, am I an idiot and to put my wankerwand down. I just think you can't debate that's all, some of your comments just don't make sense and do not relate to the topic at all.

For me it's not vanity or narcissism, it's capturing the moment in a photo, but for others maybe it is, but each to their own if that is the case.

That's just it though - it's about YOUR perception, YOUR selfies and YOUR outlook, being so self-absorbed in your ownpreferences that you can't even understand why someone else may feel differently...

You need to look in the mirror pal, that quote covers you as well.

Iam not there just to dance, Iam there to make friends, check out the DJ's and the club and to take a picture if I wish , all of which I do regular. I went raving when phone cameras didn't exist and I wish I had photos of those times as well but carrying a camera the size of your fist was impractical.

You lost me at 'I am not there just to dance'

If i took a massive picnic hamper, filled with food and drink, to Space, sat down in the middle of the dancefloor, spread out a huge rug and started chowing down and then turned around and said "each to their own" what would you think?!

We don't live in this fairytale world where everybody's opinion needs to be respected, I'm afraid. Air your opinion by all means. But expect to have it shot down if it lacks any truth, substance or value.

That's very different to respecting sentient beings, by the way. ie. social etiquette. Opinions aren't entitled to, or (necessarily) deserve respect. But people are. Especially people in public places. In the privacy of your own home, by all means, act like a c***.

You've come onto a designated clubbing forum asking how fellow clubbers feel about selfie-sticks...

I'd argue you must've had a pretty good idea that most of us detest them to do so in the first place.

To summarise, we can condense our opposing stances into a very simple argument:

"People deserve respect" (me) vs. "I like taking selfies, and that's the only justification I need" (you)

I would prob ask you for a pork pie Isle boy.

Well aware it's a clubbing forum, but you can't have it all your own view ......some people like me will disagree with you and explain why. You will have to learn to deal with it.

And Dirk....you lost me when you called out a member for being racist

Yes, you're view. But we're talking about conduct in a club. And therefore "you're view" pales into insignificance when in a tightly crammed room full of 500+ other people. What about the other 499 ppl's views? Of which are being aired here. In a forum. Devoted to clubbing. Where you came to ask your question...

You are a hypocrite of the highest order. You keep whittling on about your view this, your view that. But you are not holding yourself to your own degree of scrutiny. Can you not see that?

You came to seek answers. You got them.

Fair play to Kent Kid he's just expressing his opinion.

This issue is generational. Youngsters like taking pics on the dancefloor (and do so), us oldies grew up in a world with no smartphones, and therefore to us it seems completely alien.

Do I get annoyed with people taking reams of video and endless selfies on the dancefloor? Yes.
Do I take offence to people taking the odd pic? Not really, its not going to ruin my night.

The youngsters need to respect the dance floor a bit more that's all. A lot of them don't pick up on the fact that they are doing anything wrong....

I agree. But if you wonder enough go to an internet forum to ask in the first place, and then reject the general consensus I think you are choosing to ignore as opposed to being ignorant to it.

Haha fair play maybe he wasn't expecting to come up against a bunch of old crusties like us!

Exactly Elmoo !!

Your opinion is that there are a bit of a pain, I get that. Mine opinion is I don't mind them and I sometimes do it myself.

Isle boy just throws his dolly out as he is not used to people not agreeing with him in a structured way.

I don't mind debating with you, Just don't expect to put up a view or opinion and not have someone to disagree or have a different opinion.

Am I the only one that thinks Kent kid could be chepeibz under a different name? He seems to provoke similar reactions like he did!!!

Oh please......

Based on your ramblings on here, your inability to understand clear and concise points and most importantly that you are currently getting an absolute roasting from other members, I will just keep out of this one.

Did chepeibz dare to have a different opinion and question your view on this forum as well then ? ....god forbid !

Hope so, perhaps then we can both have a selfie together.

I don't mind the odd pic getting taken or even short vid but the folk that spend all their time snapping and acting like Martin Scorsese (flash on)that never have there phone out of their hand is a total vibe killer that and the ket brigade imo are worse than anything that kills a dance floor I occasionally take a pic or vid but I don't stop dancing while doing it so most are utter shite and the last 15-20 times I've been out I've taken 5 pics all of which were the Hyte girls
