and here we go.....

 san antonio alone againgst the new closing times
all the other town halls on the island are approving the new norms adapted to the consell criteria. san jose and santa eulalia have done it already and ibiza town will do it today. san juan accepts too.

i think it does need to be pointed out that santa eulalia & san juan dont have anything that will be affected by this and even in ibiza town i cant really think of anywhere that will be affected

so... essentially as has been said all along, only monday mornings at dc10 and space mornings will be affected and san jose finally gets to curb bora bora ;)

reports of the death of ibiza have been greatly exaggerated

check this out.....

 the owner of space asks for more controls to the illegal parties
josep rosselló thinks the cut in hours can be positive if the clandestine offer is stopped

In other words: As long as these people aren't partying anywhere else then I'm OK with it.

Get real! This guy doesn't like illegal parties because they cut into his profits. This is like the owner of Cafe Mambo saying that it should be illegal to drink beer on the beach infront of his bar.

The article does go on to say that he doesn't believe that the new closing times are the way to stop the "after hour phenomenon" and that "you can't legislate when people go to bed".

Obviously if people make their own parties during the day, the only losers will be the businesses (discos and clubs) and the tourist money they are losing out on. It would be interesting to see a study on how much liquor tax, etc is now lost between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm.

In the words of Forest Gump "I may not be a smart man" but I know that sleeping tourists don't spend much money.

if it's kept quiet we could all pile onto the 'Space Ship' and party after hours at sea?

So just to clarify - Bora Bora can open before 4.30pm but can't play music? 8O

I think there is another issue here....... If all clubs have to close at 6am sharp, then going to Pacha for example (that normally doesnt get going til 3am) will mean you only have 3 hours to party. Normally when Morillo/Tong etc play it used to go on til at least 7am maybe even longer.

Can you guys in the know confirm that this is the case?

If so lets hope the clubs start to fill closer to the opening time.

If all clubs have to close at 6am sharp

theyve always had to close at 6am - this thing is all about dc10, bora bora & space

as far as the 6am goes what the consell did say was that if the venue holds more than 1500 people then they have an hour (i think it was) to clear it

whether they will actually go round everywhere every night for 3 odd months and enforce it is another matter entirely

josé ramón serra "pilot", from the san antonio town hall, was interviewed on the cadena ser radio some minutes ago and he confirmed they are not changing the opening/closing times there because its unfair for the most than 50 cafe-conciertos they have (which have to pay higher taxes, etc). he announced that if they cause problems next year they will have to open at 4.30pm too.....

Thank you for the info. Ive been following the thread but it has started to get a little confusing as Im sure you understand...

Whatever happens I will continue to come to the island. Ok its a shame theyve moved the goal posts (I am personally gutted) but I can totally understand why they are doing it.

A new thread with the new opening times confirmed would be cool, save all this confusion.

See you at Space Opening, cant wait...

becomes like a centre thing...oh well something had to happen in the next few years and its happening but what can we do about it? nothing, lets keep on partying! thats all we want!
